Feedback Friday!

Every now and then I say hi to the new members. People are coming and going all the time. Here is your chance to give me some feedback on what you want to see in this community. Want do you want more of, what do you want less of? Please be aware that I do have limited time to commit and so asking for more of something means something else has to reduce but I do want to prioritise what people want. I've gone for more content than usual this week with a double double (quadruple!) deathnote and some reaction videos to other therapists (i.e. Georgia Dow). However, I do notice that views are generally low across all videos. I wonder if this is because I am (can't believe I am saying this) putting out too much content on single days. Maybe they should be spread out a bit more. So the content will be the same but spread out more over different days? I don't know. I'm trying to be guided you - the patreon community.

I also have a holiday coming up in a couple of weeks where I will be away for that week. I will try and get some pre-recorded stuff to go up so I don't leave a void in your life for an entire week!

I am way late to this post, just wanted to chime in that I think this type of content attracts many who are neurodivergent who latch on to a media property as a hyperfocus or special interest. As someone with ADHD, I cycle through obsessions (hyperfocuses) and sometimes abruptly drop them when something newly exciting catches my interest. Arcane was a previous obsession of mine, and I got lucky that you caught my attention because I originally was watching your Linkin Park reactions (relatively normal level of interest lol) when you uploaded your viral The Line reaction. I tentatively jumped back in, I'm almost always nervous to revisit an old hyperfocus subject because it often gets to a level that is unhealthy and unhelpful for me personally. You were just so phenomenal and stood out early with the formulation videos you did for Powder and Vander, I was like wow I need to see more of this. And it was extremely valuable to me to learn more about trauma and grief, both for myself and for improving how I approach these areas in my relationships with others. If you have a lot of viewers like me, you will likely see spiky stats. It's rare for me to stick with a single creator because I have almost what feels like a need to bounce around. I have a handful of creators that I love and keep tabs on across various subjects matters, you've entered that echelon for me so I'll always be keeping an eye out even if I'm not regularly active. I only have 2 patreon subscriptions, one because the creator has what I consider to be a criminally low subscriber count for the level that I adore his content and want him to keep doing what he's doing, and here because you put out so much unique and interesting content that is patreon only. I see this one almost like a Netflix subscription, you have put out so much content that it feels like I'll never fully catch up but at the same time it's nice to know there's a treasure trove here to binge when I'm in the mood for it. What am I interested in? Narrative driven games for the most part. Would selfishly LOVE to see you play Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 as that's my current hyperfocus. I think you have a winning formula though with the tv reactions + analysis vids. I don't know if every episode needs an analysis or if I'm interested in the reactions to other reactions, it starts to get to be a lot of things to watch per minute of media. I have high but relatively normal level of interest in TLoU, GoT, Severance, and BB so I'm excited both to catch up and for what's to come, but likely at a slower pace than I inhaled the Arcane content since that was a hyperfocus special interest of mine. As an aside, I wasn't planning on watching Daredevil as I have no interest in marvel stuff but now I think I have to since I adore Charlie Cox's performance in Clair Obscur Expedition 33.

O am mainly interested in Arcane and some song videos. I was into Attack on Titan. The other shows you are analyzing right now, I personally think are very traumatizing but there is not much psychological analysis for the few characters. I understand Breaking Bad is very interesting in that sense but I personally don't need to rewatch the whole thing, so I would just watch something here and there. There is also a limit of time for me, so I personally have to pick short analysis, instead of a two hour long streaming session. Death Note is cool, but there isn't much to analyze in terms of the variety of characters or relationships. It is hard to please and accommodate everybody. I think people leave because the Patreon pivots into other things that are not of interest to them. I personally would like to getting deeper in Arcane, but I can understand that it might be boring to you or others to keep digging into it. Regardless, I enjoy your content and analysis, is just that for me time is limited and need to pick the ones that are short and sweet.

Personally i would love to see you react to Andor due to the incredible story telling (12x2 episodes, then it naturally ends into Rouge One). The show don’t really need you to like star wars, and there is a lot to analyse.

I'm here mostly for everything related to arcane. I just have 5 videos left to watch for which I didn't had the time til now.

Heya! I love everything you’re putting out lately! I think your lack of familiarity with Anime is actually a bonus. I’ve got a lot of friends and family interested in anime but with no experience with it who struggle with taking it serious due to some of its more common tropes, and your reactions of Death Note have quickly become one of my go-to methods of introducing anime to others because it helps suspend their disbelief to hear your honest interpretations of the media, in a sense guiding them on how to process it if they want to treat it like live action and dig into character and theme. Because of you, I was finally able to get both of my parents and my sister to watch Death Note after two decades of failing to do so. I just got my boss into it as well and she’s loving it! I know your polls said that your analysis during videos isn’t exactly what people are looking for but for my two cents, I find the thoughtful and honest analysis you bring to the often unrealistic and goofy situations in anime as endearing. You’ve helped me see situations in shows I on past watches just laughed at as a good gag through a different, more intentional lens and it’s breathtaking. I’d definitely love if you’d muse on expanding those initial reactions into a little more initial analysis because the times you’ve got caught on a concept and ran with it mid video have been my favorite parts.

Curious, do you mean that views are lower on Youtube or do you mean Patreon engagement?

Maki

Appreciate the increased uploads as someone mainly watching the Death Note reactions currently.

Maki

Yes this came up on the stream during the week while we saying that the game shows ellies response to what she did to Nora, but that game scene also contained potential spoilers. I think we agreed that as we have only two episodes left of the season 2 show it would be worthwhile finishing that and then making the comparisons over a series of videos between the game and the show. I may even give the game a go myself at the end of the season (although Im not much of a gamer and might be a frustrating watch!).

Lenny

Wait a minute...I'm anime-unsavvy? Does that come across lol

Lenny

Blame our damaged attention spans lol More popular shows would bring in the views, anime watchers also love anime-unsavvy anime reactors.

Other than saying thank you for your content, I’d like to see you compare the differences in reactions in the Game conversations/moments to the show for the last of us especially season 2. But anything your doing is great I need to start your death note series eventually (Sorry if you already have I’m still catching up on your videos on season 1 😅)

So do to that one either has to end, or I have to stop one, or I have to do less livestreams, or do less therapist reacts to therapist videos. The aim is to have one live action and one anime, to then consistently add analysis videos, livestreams, and reactions to related content. I could do 3 shows at a time if I cut everything else out. But I have a feeling people are here more for the additional content (analysis, livestreams) than they are for the actual reactions themselves. Although that is just an assumption I am making.

Lenny

We need more shows :)
