When I've first begun reading the Death Note - illegally, but don't worry, I've bought all DN legal paper volumes as they released over here (in Poland) ever since, so, in Polish, of course - anyway, let's go back to the beginning. I was reading ENG online downloadable fanscanlations. I was so immersed, other than some Sherlock Holmes stories, I've never read a story like this before, and I was quickly on team L let's just say ever since Light killed Rey Penber - and, well... Then I got to the last scanlated chapter. It was the tennis match etc. I was bemused and flabbergasted. I was much younger than rn, back then, duh, just checking the dates, yeah XD and the fact that I knew almost nothing about tennis didn't help my confusion. Even less about tennis terminology in ENG. what's smth - love supposed to mean, even, I wondered? And why is L letting himself be so close to Raito? (Light, in early scans, I'm just recalling memories rn, so, yup. Raito is supposed to Light, in transcription, some fans just didn't know any better. XD ) Does he have a death wish or what? And then after that tennis match and questions about notes etc I had to wait, for the first time, for the next chapter. Until fans translated it. Turns out that after waiting - for two months, I think - I got to read more chapters, so that was awesome. But, man, let me tell you, that was one of TOP 10 cliffhangers in fiction in my life. I'd compare it to the Arcane one (Council Cliffhanger as I call it, heh, sounds more interesting than Death Note's Tennis Cliffhanger as I call it, but, both were v. interesting to me XD ), which was also in my TOP 10 cliffhangers, yea XD what are your top10 cliffhangers, just some of them, maybe? Well, you don't have to say, of course, but :D just curious. But yeah, I remember that cliffhanger. Thinking: Light, did you kill your father?! Why?! (now you know where that chapter ended. With a phone call, yeah. That Soichirio had a heart attack. That was my unintended cliffhanger for a month or two - I'm no longer sure. Unintended, because Death Note was a weekly releasing manga. That cliffhanger was for a week for org readers. XD only a week. so yeah, unintended for a month or two in my reading experience. XD ) (If I even remember right, eh, early 2000s... was it 2005 or 2004 or 2006, back then? XD anyway, it was an Experience. XD ) (I will share more my Death Note cliffhangers as they appear, if that's not too boring. XD )
