1.7.0a Patch Changelog: (2022-12-04): Updated Citra to version 2330, which should fix crashing issues with AMD Graphics Cards. The "60 FPS Edition" has also been updated to this version. The UI overlay utility has also been updated and now only requires 1 monitor to be used!
This was posted in the previous updates' post as well, but as a reminder (or if this is your first time using the Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D 4K texture pack), Here are the default key bindings for using the bottom screen with your controller;
You may need to set these bindings again on your own controller in case Citra does not recognize it automatically. Simply double click the input button for each respective button and press the corresponding button on your controller and you should be good to go!
This should make the game much more enjoyable, especially if you're playing on a TV where you definitely don't want to be switching around between different controllers mid-action.
Kokiri Forest has received more remade textures, this includes higher quality ground textures, new leaf textures on Deku Baba enemies and high-definition hanging vines. This also affects textures in Lost Woods and inside the Great Deku Tree, so it's a larger improvement than it might seem at first!
Hyrule Castle Town has been upgraded with new textures, such as the ground tiles, stone and brick walls, roof tiling, window panes and more. This also includes new textures for the exterior of temple of time, which now looks much nicer as well.
Hyrule Castle and the courtyard have also been overhauled, with new textures for both the terrain and environment, but also for the castle itself and the surrounding details such as gates and soldier chainmail.
For both Adult and Child Link, both the Goron and Zora tunics have now received a similar treatment to the Kokiri Tunic from the previous update. Other details have also been improved, such as Link's belt having been remade.
Tall grass has been completely remade as well, and now actually looks like the original tall grass- only in 4K. I think it turned out really nice, let me know what you think!
This is another major overhaul which was long overdue, but finally the various horses- including Epona, have been retextured to look much nicer than the previously used texture. The fur is much shorter, which is more realistic and looks much less jarring. And the eyes are also vastly improved over the previous version. Yee-haw!
Tomoki Sato (a user who goes by the name "LINK") has generously been helping with translating most of the UI textures over to Japanese! The first batch covering most of the textures has been added in this update, with more getting included in future releases. Please follow them on Twitter here: https://twitter.com/LINK_genkaiya
I have figured out a way to display UI elements on the main screen using some visual trickery! It is not a mod and has some quirks, however in practice it does provide results which should be sufficient for those wanting to display their status and info on the main screen, like in the N64 version. See this video on how the effect looks in-game! At the moment, this method requires a powerful graphics card and at least two monitors, with at least one of them being capable of displaying an image in 4K (the display itself does NOT need to be in native 4K, but the graphics card should be able to output 4K to the monitor by changing a configuration setting in the graphics control panel). Detailed instructions are provided with the pack, feel free to give it a try!
Lots of less noticable things have been altered or fixed in this version, like updated textures for bombs, colored pushable/pullable blocks in dungeons, butterflies, feathers, bomb bags, the flags on top of Hyrule Castle and much more!
Phew, I believe that was all this time around. I might come back and add something I might have forgotten later!
Re-post from the previous update:
This is arguably an even greater upgrade available in Zelda: Ocarina of Time 4K than any of the textures. The 60 FPS patch is a first-time feature for Ocarina of Time 3D, and makes the game display in a buttery smooth 60 frames per second instead of the usual 30. This makes the game not just nicer to look at, but also makes it more responsive and reduces input lag. However, this feature is still in beta and has a few workarounds (you need to perform some special actions in certain instances to avoid the game from softlocking, for example. Instructions and more information is provided with the download!) Since the 60 FPS mode isn't quite ready for prime time yet, it's included as an optional special version which you can use if you're feeling adventurous (and don't mind doing a little bit of manual work!) The instructions are, like stated previously, included with the download. Have fun! :]
All you need to do now, if you're using the European version of Ocarina of Time 3D, click the "Run this if you're using the PAL (European) version of the game.bat" file inside the texture pack folder. Done! It'll now work great with your version of the game. Easy, right?
This means you can now experience glorious self shadowing around objects, which looks really great with OOT's fantasy art style. Try it out by doing the following:
* Set your game view to "Single" in Citra.
* Enter fullscreen in Citra.
* Press the "HOME" button on your keyboard, this will bring up the ReShade UI.
* Check the "MXAO" box in the list of effects.
* Go to the "OpenGL" tab in ReShade and check the box next to the depth buffer in the list with the highest value (it should be a very high number while all others are 0). This number will change constantly, but don't worry it's supposed to do that!
* You're done. Have fun!
There is a 4K version available, if your computer can handle it. It's a large file, over 7GB so beware of that before you download it! The 1080p version is smaller in file size, but is lower resolution. You can download both and test which one works best for you, if you want! :)
Please feel free to try it out!
(Only available for use with the Citra 3DS emulator, the texture pack does not work on real 3DS consoles).
You can find more information about my HD texture pack here.
I am only able to make things like this thanks to your support, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping me do what I love!
