Discord Integration

This one won't matter to you if you don't use Discord, but it's something I forgot to ask so I thought now would be a good time to do so.
About a year ago I was playing the game Being a Dik and I saw that it showed up on my Discord status. I was like, "hey! That's cool, I didn't know you could do that with Ren'py!" before looking up to see if I could too. And sure enough, it worked!
I avoided anything that would give away that it was an NSFW game, in case people were using Discord to play chat with their DnD buddies or whatever. It says "Playing Hypnosis" and when you click on it gives more info like "Episode 12: Kicking ass and taking names!" or something silly.
No one said anything, so I forgot about it.
However... I was on another game's discord and saw someone complaining about this for their game, pointing out that they didn't want the world knowing what they were doing, and I thought it was a valid point.
So I wanted to ask you guys, especially those of you that actually use discord, does it bother you? To me, I love going on there and saying, "hey! That person is playing Hypnosis, sweet!" It's another way of getting the game out there and I think it's kind of fun, but I sometimes forget that some people use their discord accounts for other things than adult games, like chatting about home brewing with their Mormon brother-in-law or something.

To let EUG know that I saw it, but decided not to vote. Also I guess to remind others that abstaining is a valid choice: It seems from the comments that a lot of people have disabled the feature in Discord. If they for example all vote "fine with it" because it doesn't affect them, then it might overrule the votes from the people affected. Anyway that's my reason :) Hope the explanation made sense

If they don't want to tell the world they're playing 18+ games they have the ability to disable that for themselves. if anything, its free advertising ;)

I can't think of any upside to it, like everyone either going "I'd rather not" or "I disable that feature anyway" or "it's fine, the game is obscure enough people won't know" then what is the point in enabling the feature? Only downside and neutral, no real upside.

2021-12-15 09:22:30 +0000 UTCIf you're making sure that it doesn't look like a nsfw game, I think it would be unfair to demand that your game not use that feature. People like me that don't want the world to know what I'm doing at any given moment can just disable the activity bar on discord.
