I need more of a break (1 or 2 days)

Comments

Ganbareee!

Madvillain

Take a long break if you need, like one piece is going nowhere and even then feel free to only react and enjoy. One Piece is the kind of story that while do rewards attention to details, never demands it that much so you can just enjoy the journey, don't feel pressured to satisfy the really intense fans that will complain no matter what you do.

Vodkarlos

GANBARE CARSON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MIRACLES ONLY HAPPEN TO THOSE WHO DON'T GIVE UP

Coqnbauz

Burnout is a real thing and it's brutal. I've been through it without hundreds of people offering their opinion on my work (both positive and negative doesn't matter). So, take care of yourself and your mental health. What you are feeling is real but it can and will get better, the other side exists. Focus on that, nothing else matters during a burnout or whatever you might be going through!

BTImelesS

A few of the reactors I follow have their mods curate their comments for them. Basically, the mods review the comments and send the reactors the best ones. Maybe you could try something similar to avoid the negative people.

Smelly Mammoth

Sorry to hear you've been getting backlash for your reactions, I'm personally still subbed but I'm super behind on your content because life, so I've only just caught up to the end of Punk Hasard and considering ~200 ep have been watched in between I'm not too aware of the latest content and how people have received it. But that being said nothing warrants being a dick to a content creator or anyone in fact, so whatever's going on I'm just going to say if you need to step back then that's what you need. It's a sad time if watching OP is a weight rather than something fun, and while you take the time you need I'll take my sweet time catching up with what's already out (maybe watch the LA stuff too). Take care of yourself, step back until you actually want to watch the show and enjoy that, it isn't worth making yourself mentally ill. I'm not sure where you're at currently or what the issues are with the show, but I know I personally got annoyed with the anime treatment and pacing around Dressrosa and I switched to One Pace because to me at least it was better than not enjoying it at all. Maybe it's completely irrelevant and the problems with comments and show enjoyment are caused by something else, that's the joy of not being caught up, I can speculate and be completely wrong about the situation, but if it isn't, maybe switching medium might help.

Jambron

I really appreciate your thoughts and have enjoyed going through one piece with y'all a lot. I'm also a live action to anime viewer, and rushed through to Wano and unintentionally have taken a long break. Sorry that the bad comments outweigh the good, but I will almost definitely be checking in on your journey through one piece regardless of how long it takes.

Andrew Watts

Take your time and get some rest. You’ve been putting in a lot, and it shows. I genuinely enjoy your discussions, even when I disagree with you, because you bring a perspective that actually engages with the material instead of just skimming the surface. That kind of effort is rare. Don’t let other people’s negativity take away from your experience. Whatever they think, you’re clearly connecting with the work in a meaningful way, and that’s what matters.

Çağatay Çora

You have been watching One Piece near constantly for two and a half years. I think you may just need a break. While we all like to say One Piece isn't long enough, it's still a lot to commit to on a regular schedule. I caught up to the manga at the start of Jaya and have been weekly since; I can't imagine what a reserve of 1100 episodes is like.--surely a climb more daunting than the Drum peaks. Burnout is real, and I think you're feeling it. I'm sure some people would whine, but if you guys need to step away from the series for a bit, none of us who care about y'all are gonna be upset. We'd rather you be enjoying yourself.

Sammy

Don't let it get to you man

Theron Hunter

i'm here because i love your comments and thoughts. I enjoy your theories and Lindsay's, sometimes they make me laugh, sometimes I'm surprised at how right they are. So basically I really enjoy watching them regardless of whether I agree or not.

Julio Martinez

This channel would be infinitely worse without your discussions and theories. Boldcast and Autosave are my favorite reaction channels for this exact reason, I don't want to watch someone say "that's interesting", "wow", and "yooo" for 20 minutes, I want to see someone else's opinion on the series. This is the internet, and unfortunately there will ALWAYS be haters, no matter what you do. Some people literally just hate for the sake of hating, you'll never get away from that - just remember that for a lot of people, the discussions are the reason they come to this channel over others. I really get how draining it can be though. If taking a break will let you regain mental energy to ignore the negative comments, please take a break until you're ready. I don't think anyone wants to see you force yourself to watch it if you're not enjoying it.

Capyryan

I don’t usually comment but literally I get a little (maybe irrationally and reading too deep into it) annoyed at the comments too, One Piece isn’t a perfect show and Oda isn’t the best writer of all time. As long as we all understand it’s just a piece of media that can allow us to have deeper discussions and act as a commentary on certain topics (and not be terrible and insult the writers), people can and should critique all they like. It shouldn’t have to be, and can’t be, perfect. Another thing I wanted to bring up is Carson and Lindsay being blasted when not being consistent with uploads/being late, I understand being frustrated but idk… unpopular opinion it’s not a big deal. Things happen, more importantly they literally always catch back up, so it’s not like you “wasted” ur money or anything. Ppl were lwk a little too mean about it. I’m so sorry that you’re going through that, take as long of a break as you need

Someone Random

Your discussions and opinions are what differentiate you from other react channels and its what brings most of us here, take your time and remember that empty barrel makes the loudest noise. You have a lot more people that appreciate what you guys are doing.

Moe Zee

Bro they’re literally here for the wrong reasons then because the discussions is what actual fans come here for. F the haters they suck BBC all day because they got no jobs and hating is all they can do

Nathaniel Catindig

I love the discussions on this channel. Especially the podcasts! I always enjoy hearing you two go through and break down the plot and analyze it from a writing perspective. Also I just want to say some of your theories even if maybe incorrect are hilarious and spawn long running jokes. Thats why I'm here! Long live the cuck theory! Anyways take as much time as you need, I understand having a presence online can be quite stressful in multiple ways. All of these eyes on you, and the OP fan base has all different types of people being as huge as it is there will always be some negative people there. Hopefully you can still enjoy continuing to watch the journey~

Remi

I never comment like never bc most of the time i think it's cringy or something but you guys are literally my favorite reactors and especially for this show and honestly any show because you guys actually remember the most stuff and have the best story analysis. I enjoy all the theories, predictions, the podcast and everything. I might not agree or like what yall might say but I just got attached to your guys personalities and conversations it made me wanna stay on this journey with you guys. The part of your guys content for me is the yalls thought and talks Y'all might not see this but I hope you guys the best and glad to be apart of this journey with yall. Ill be in the shadows lurking and watching yalls content

Krymsunn

I think I am understanding where you are coming from Carson. In particular with One Piece, I believe that you may feel that your theories and predictions are useless since most of your community are much further ahead than you in the series. You feel that any analysis you produce has already been debated and discussed by the One Piece community years ago. With something like Naruto you were already previously aware of all the plot points and inside information before you publicly reacted to it. You were able to consume it off camera at your own pace and without scrutiny. With One Piece you feel like you are being constantly monitored by a rabid amorphous community. Any incorrect theory or momentary forgetfulness of previous character names and plot points result in comments swooping in to correct you. Yes many comments are simply made in good faith but some are indeed malicious. I would like to offer you some encouragement. Keep on making your theories and predictions. Do not pay any mind to the critical comments. The more you progress in your One Piece journey the more up to date and knowledgeable you will become. Eventually you guys will be up to date with the rest of the community and no one will be able to act as if they are superior to you because they know more about the story. Keep on being you Carson.

Lūthér Hölâyèãhmé

don’t comment that often but I’LL GLAZE MORE SO YOU KNOW HOW IMMACULATE YOUR DISCUSSIONS ARE

xay

Just wanted to drop in and express how much I really really enjoy your discussions! Don’t let them dim your spirit too much cause man you’re a light in the community. I always look forward to hearing what you both have to say. Keep your head up and please take the time to take care of yourself

Dono

Nah, theres a lot of times I disagree with you, Carson, but opinions are opinions. Regardless of what takes you make, I always hope you stand on business. I mean, you also do make a lot of good points too. And I most definitely appreciate the different perspectives you both bring to the table. Take it easy, bro. We'll all still be here when you're ready to go back for more One Piece!

socks

Take as much time as you need pls! We all watch One Piece because we derive enjoyment from it. I can’t imagine sharing an opinion on something daily and constantly having people judge your opinions. It’s gotta be rough. I hope you know that for every one person out theres 10 fold out there loving what you put out and enjoying watching it with you. In the wise words of T Swift, haters gonna hate but we are gonna watch One Piece and enjoy it! 😅

Krykee

We like the feedback, especially on patreon. The last big post where I was questioning myself was good because it let me check myself. In that case I was being a bit sensitive like I said Patreon is a good place for me at least. I don’t feel the same pressure here. But I will say, back in the day, 3-4 years ago, this would have been on a livestream, or on a public YouTube post. Now it’s a paid only patreon post. The problems I’m dealing with are a lot deeper than YouTube. I was talking with Lindsay and the me of 4-5 years ago, the one dealing with even more hate in rezero or Naruto videos, was far more confident in my taste and opinions. To the point where things did take their own toll, but I could have a better attitude and continue pushing. But with One piece, I think I’ve just gotten worn down over the years, and I don’t have that same confidential I used to have. When I forget something, it’s a bigger deal, when I make an argument, and people respond with books in the comments, I used to go back and forth and evolve the discussion ON TOP of 2 livestreams per week, multiple series that I edited myself, patreon exclusive content, interacting in the discord. But these days even just sharing my basic thoughts just doesn’t seem worth it most of the time. Im not trying to complain about youtube or the audience, im complaining about myself It feels like ive spent years cultivating an audience by being critical and smug, and now im upset that people are critical of me. I want to keep trying to get back on other series but when I sit down to work, it just doesn’t seem as important as it did before. The me of today would never dream of hate watching Tokyo revengers all the way through just to prove im right about how terrible it is while getting bombarded with hate. It just feels so hopeless sometimes. But when im doing one piece, the actual videos lately, it feels great. This arc is incredible and the live action is possibly even better than the anime in many ways. But then i can see our peers who didn’t criticize the anime and make a bad impression doing better in terms of views and success. And I don’t feel jealous or bitter at them, I’m ashamed of myself for selling us down the river because I thought my little critiques were worth all this negativity I’ve got a lot going on as you can tell. But it’s not your guys’ fault. I love seeing all the patreon comments

BOLDcast

To anyone reading this who might think, “the comments weren't that bad” or “there weren't that many comments about this,” let me try to put some things into perspective. This has been a thing since the beginning of their channel, but go back and look at any of their One Piece YouTube videos and you are likely to find someone pointing out something Carson said wrong. Most of the time they aren't malicious, but when every time you say something wrong or even potentially wrong you get a bunch of comments about it, it adds up and becomes hurtful. When huge members of the one piece community write a long message basically shitting on you and then don't respond to your well thought out response, it's going to feel bad. When you finally feel good enough to start theorizing and analyzing the story again and you miss one thing so your theory is wrong and everyone in chat points out that you are wrong, it's going to feel bad. When you have dedicated people who only comment when they think you said something wrong, it's going to feel bad. Think about this, the pressure has gotten so bad that he feels the need to cut out theories from the PATREON videos because it ends up being wrong. For me I love hearing them talk about one piece. Even if they missed or forgot a valuable plot point I still really enjoy hearing them talk about it. I have consumed one piece enough, I'm here for their journey through it. A lot of us have consumed and talked about one piece for thousands of hours. We know all the plot points, we know all the behind the scenes stuff, we know all the theories and talking points for each of these arcs yet we expect them to never be wrong? Look most of the comments arent malicious but when its hundreds of comments over the year it starts to build up. I dont think its wrong to disagree or point out things they may have missed but I think it would be good to not have the whole comment section dogpile onto what they got wrong and this is coming from me, someone who loves to add to dogpiles. Trust in Sanji Joestar and Chocoboshi to tell them things they may have missed.

Ty

Is sad cuz not only you but everyone allways can get 100 messages, 95 positive but they still gonna give more importance to the reamaining 5. It's good to listen to the "negative" or critics cuz they can give u some feedback and one should be open to listen different opinions but if u are not feeling good just ignore them for some time while paying more attention to the positives.

Mainque

I'm really sorry you feel this way. Take as long as you feel you need. While I don't agree with all of your opinions (Liking one thing or disliking another, we're different people) I've never felt like you are in any way in the wrong for thinking, feeling or expressing anything that you've expressed towards One Piece or, more generally, on this channel. I've been subscribed since you started the live action of One Piece and ill stay subscribed long after you catch up with the anime. The reason is not because of what you watch but because of who you are, I will always have immense respect for your insight and ability to relate topics and ideas in shows with things that you know about, most of which I know very little about myself. I havent had time to read most of the longer messages but I've seen the sentiment that "What people have been saying isn't that bad". Its easier said than done but don't pay any mind to the idea that it shouldn't be negatively effecting you, I've fallen for this trap before and it doesn't matter if what people are saying is tame in comparison to what they could be saying, it affects you, full stop, that's all that matters. From what I know about you, it matters because you're such a hard working person and you take your work seriously. This is a truly difficult temperament to have when dealing with both the communication format that is online comments as well as when interacting with anime communities through this format. Take your time and just know that you have people who really do care to hear what you have to say, regardless of what some people may make you think. We're here for you!

Carson, take as long a break you need. And if y'all need to step away from the anime for a bit, by all means. It's extremely easy and common to be burnt out on it. Mental health comes first.

TurtleKungFu

I might disagree with things you say Carson(I remember going back and forth with you earlier about the Log Pose), however I am using you to challenge what I think about many of these topic's in One Piece. Their are many time I disagreed with you but then I went over what you were saying, and you changed my mind. That's what I love about this channel, you guys go in depth on every episode, and not many reaction channels do that, many just watch for fun.

Cheddah Slammer

Yep like in Zou, when it was revealed that Sanji had siblings. The fandom went nuts thinking Bellamy and Killer were Sanji's brothers lol. I remember commenting that I thought it was going to be new characters, and everyone was giving me a hard time under my comment, because its defiantly going to be Killer and Bellamy because they have blond hair. Then its revealed its new characters, crickets. You have a big chunk of the fandom that is toxic with their head canon.

Cheddah Slammer

I personally believe that the human mind wasn't made for the internet. Being exposed to thousands or literally millions of people's opinions can really take a toll on our brains when they're negative. And it's completely unnatural. It's a weird thing how we get affected more by negativity than positivity. Even when the positive overwhelms the negative. It just triggers something in our brains, and can get overwhelming. I REALLY relate to how Carson's feeling. Like how anything you say and do isnt "enough" in a sense. And you can never just deadass like something. There's always going to be a dipshit out there for everyone. And there's always gonna someone who doesn't like you for who you are. But honestly fuck them dude💀 straight up. They're respectfully, all bitches🙏 Dont let these bitches make you feel like you cant express your love and excitement. Keep expressing yourself and remember that 90% of your community love what you guys do. Even when it doesnt feel like it

Loserdoo

Hold on, they don't have any mods? That's it, that's the issue.

Feignorance

I feel the comments on the Patreon are prove that we want your opinion, I care about it

Porco

*by watching i also mean discussions, no reactor that ive seen offers what you guys do

ignorantWeed

No reason to listen to the people who cried because you didn't start chimping out when you initially saw Cracker's bounty

Coqnbauz

That breaks my heart, watching one piece with you brought me so much joy and many days your upload was the only good thing in my life. Take a break if you need it for sure but be sure to come back, Luffy cant become Pirate king without you!

ignorantWeed

Yea I totally agree... I didn't even know they had a Discord until recently, but it makes a lot of sense that the majority of the negative comments seem to be coming from there - that platform seems to breed these weird snark groups that just want to endlessly nitpick creators.

Coqnbauz

I say just delete the discord…I feel like the videos and comment sections are more than enough discussion. If people need more than that out of a YouTube/Patreon channel, who cares.. there’s only 24 hours in a day, why spend so much of it focused on one thing

Leighton

You're being criticized for your theories by the fandom that's widely known for coming up with and spreading the most idiotic, downright restarted fan theories like they are gospel. Don't mind it.

FluidDruid

Don't pay any mind to the negative comments. They are a known byproduct of the online world. If possible, you can also avoid reading comments entirely.

Lūthér Hölâyèãhmé

Its human nature to be more likely to comment when you have something negative to say. Its why all of social media is built on farming outrage. People aren't here randomly, they are here because they want to see what you think of things. Every silent view is a vote for hearing your perspective.

Gralthator

It’s human nature to focus only on the bad so I get it. Whatever you need to do to get your head right, I’m sure we all would understand. Just remember, your biggest haters are your biggest fans.

Jordan Potter

There are way more people here who like what you guys are doing than people who don't. For every one negative comment there is probably ten people who enjoyed your takes/theories but just didn't have anything to add so they don't comment.

assaub

^this and then there are people that are gunna complain "I pay for this" "i pay for that", like shit i know a vtuber that reacts to One Piece that cant even upload ANYTHING consistently. I thought the goal all along was 5 eps a week anyway, its awesome we get so much but like... dont burn out.

lionstooth

As someone who found this relatable personally, I think dodging the critics helped me more than tanking them ever did. Taking time may be crucial. You are at your best without worries so clear your mind with other things and in the future, if it's impossible to avoid them, don't give value to naysayers. I am very particular about reactors so believe me that you two are among my favorite. You deserve to be yourself.

Veritas

Theres also 2 important things to remember with One Piece one of which is a tough pill to swallow but its also liberating. 1) If you know about the FFXIV meta on twitch from a few years ago, its almost the same alot of these people will just poof out of existence once you catch up, so theres no point in trying to appease people that ultimately arent loyal and will dissapear the moment you catch up and 2) One Piece is an uber popular series, the more popular a series the more you get try hard toxic losers, look at JJK. Its just inevitable, just a bunch of losers that have their lives tied to a cartoon(yea i said it, fight me). Yall have been killing it consistently for almost 2 years now, y'all might be a lil burnt out too which is something to consider so like i said in the previous post a week or 2 vacation might be in the cards.

lionstooth

Carson my dude, genuinely love your analytical takes. You two are awesome and I genuinely mean that. I know it's easier said than done to ignore it, but just remember a lot of these ppl that talk shit are just losers. They're ultimately paying you to be mad so screw'm. I'd hate to see you step away from the series but ultimately you should do what's best for you. Sometimes you get on a tangent or line of thinking that's off but that's part of the fun isn't it? Because sometimes you end up with the right answer but from the weirdest setup and it's hilarious. For your takes that are critical? Who cares, if you're entire enjoyment around the series is endlessly praising it that's lame and Oda doesn't even want that. Look at what Oda said recently about his series, he just wants a casual series everyone can enjoy and not take seriously all the time. "Manga is about killing time", so bein critical to me means you are actually enjoying the series rather than just batchesting every story beat. Maybe y'all should just take a week off or something. You're awesome dude I genuinely mean that it'd suck to see you step away, so just take a breather like you're doin and tune the tryhards out.

lionstooth

I’ve thought the latest reactions were really good. I’ve been enjoying the consistency as well. Shame that a few rotten apples had to spoil the whole bunch. Hope to see more one piece when y’all feel ready.

DuLee

I was the Otohime guy and I don’t even know why tf these losers are criticizing you so much as of recently 🤷🏽‍♂️ When I watch BoldCast I’m looking forward to BOTH of your theories, ideas, critiques, reviews, etc. I don’t think I could ever watch your reactions if one of you were to leave (not to say that each of you individually isn’t entertaining, it’s just that you both build off of each other’s ideas and naturally mesh well) Take as long of a break as you need, but don’t fully drop the series. Eventually the people giving you shit will either quiet down as whatever hyper-specific critique they had becomes irrelevant as the broader story continues. I agree with the one comment about you needing somewhat tougher skin (not to say you’re a pushover crybaby or that it’s right to expect you to be some emotionless robot). I think you should have more confidence in your opinions/takes - when you get a lot of negative comments on some innocuous thing that has 0 importance to anything in the story, you should have the confidence to think “Nah they’re trippin. What I said was fine, they’ll get over it”. You have to realize that these negative comments are usually always temporary: if it’s truly something you got wrong then the story will eventually correct you and even if the subject doesn’t get revisited later on then that means it was clearly not that big of a deal in the first place. I think that in these moments it’d be good to have a designated One Piece point-person (probably a mod) who’s fully caught up that you can go to and ask “hey, was what I said really THAT wrong or crazy?”. Or you can just poll the Patrons or Subs on YouTube to see what the community consensus is on your statements. It’s a cheap and efficient way of maintaining your sanity

Coqnbauz

Just stop reading comments for a while. You don't need them for self-validation.

Manu_C

Love your takes Carson, sorry that One Piece fans can be critical to everyone.

Nicolas LeBlanc

I really enjoy your analysis and the way you spend so much time discussing your thoughts and opinions — sometimes for hours in your separate analysis videos. I also appreciate how you talk about both the enjoyment and the problems you notice in each episode. Your passion, dedication, and fair-minded commentary are truly appreciated. Since I usually click on the video quite early after a new episode is posted, I tend to skim through the early comments only, and most of them are fair and friendly. But I know there will always be some people who leave antagonistic comments for no real reason, or criticize no matter what. I’m not sure which ones have been bothering you, but I can understand how discouraging that can feel. I don’t really have a solution for that — I just wanted to leave a small word of encouragement and show my admiration and support. There are still many people here who genuinely enjoy watching your reactions and listening to your analysis and theories. Take as many days off as you need. I don’t mind waiting for a worthy pal to come back with a clear mind.

theshittycook

I'm sorry you've been struggling. For whatever it is worth, I love your discussions and observations, no matter how negative or positive. There will always be a vocal minority and that sucks, but I want to make sure you also know there are some of us that genuinely enjoy your perspective. One Piece is a beautiful journey that shouldn't be marred by other people. Do whatever you have to so it doesn't ruin the rest of your journey.

Copper Nickus

Maybe you really should take a break. Discussions from you is the reason why I'm suscribed for your patreon

Jack Shadow

I'm not sure if you guys are aware of the reactors Rice and Ginger, but they've recently started taking off a full week for mental health every 2 or 3 months or something, I'm not sure exactly. But might be worth looking into. Maybe you could even reach out specifically to other reactors and find how they handle things, it's probably a pretty unique problem.

Robbie Medica

Sorry Carson. You've been chewing through One Piece like mad. Take a break. I'm sorry the vocal minority is that loud. Your discussions are the best, and I always think your curiosities about the mangaka and his thoughs and designs are interesting to hear.

Vlee

I'm sorry to hear you've been feeling this way. 😕 I'm not an OP fan so I don't engage with the reactions but I certainly sympathize with you. OP is so long and old and you're constantly putting out reactions for it so the negative comments are probably overwhelming. I know you like to engage with your community and discuss stuff but you might just have to ignore comments for this anime all together. Quite a few patreons I'm on are reacting to One Piece and they seem to be doing okay with it. I think someone already suggested a mod curating comments for y'all. I think that's what some other channels probably do for OP and I think its a good idea. I know you probably want to read every comment but this is probably the option moving forward. And I'm gonna be honest! As much as I would LOVE for you put down One Piece and replace it with a thing or two of something I know/watch/enjoy 😂, you absolutely shouldn't. Follow through and deliver the peak reactions OP fans joined the patreon for. 👍🏾 And enjoy the anime yourself! 💖

botanbutton

bro wrote a whole ass poem

maurizio piras

I didn't even notice that there are some toxic people because i only watch your Reactions, so no Discord or reading peoples comments. If it is that bad especially on One Piece you really should ignore the Comments for One Piece at least if it affects you mental.

Dv77tir

Saying "you need to get over it" is just honestly so rude. :/

A Man and his son were once going with their Donkey to market. As they were walking along by its side a countryman passed them and said: “You fools, what is a Donkey for but to ride upon?” So the Man put the Boy on the Donkey and they went on their way. But soon they passed a group of men, one of whom said: “See that lazy youngster, he lets his father walk while he rides.” So the Man ordered his Boy to get off, and got on himself. But they hadn’t gone far when they passed two women, one of whom said to the other: “Shame on that lazy lout to let his poor little son trudge along.” Well, the Man didn’t know what to do, but at last he took his Boy up before him on the Donkey. By this time they had arrived into town, and the passers-by began to jeer and point at them. The Man stopped and asked what they were scoffing at. The men said: “Aren’t you ashamed of yourself for overloading that poor donkey of yours and your hulking son?” The Man and Boy got off and tried to think what to do. They thought and they thought, till at last they cut down a pole, tied the donkey’s feet to it, and raised the pole and the donkey to their shoulders. They went along amid the laughter of all who met them till they came to Market Bridge, when the Donkey, getting one of his feet loose, kicked out and caused the Boy to drop his end of the pole. In the struggle the Donkey fell over the bridge, and his fore-feet being tied together he was drowned. “That will teach you,” said an old man who had followed them: “Sometimes, people leave incredibly mean Youtube comments without giving it any second thought, so you shouldn't either.”

EJ

Dude, I even left your discord because the one piece fanbase in there was toxic. It’s best to realize 90% or more of your viewers just watch and don’t comment. It’s the twitch lurker ratio. Most of us enjoy the vid and move on right after. It’s best to not check in here tbh. I get it sucks not checking your own comments but for every 5-10 comments you are gonna get some crazy grump. It’s just how the fanbase has been as far as I’ve known it. I sympathize with you, I’ve been enjoying the discussions. Because I’m not in the discussions or in the comments I don’t even know what people have a problem with because I avoid reading these like they are the plague. Your vids are great. I had someone argue with me a few vids back about how the one piece community isn’t toxic at all when I was comparing it to the friendlier jojo and HXH communities. It clearly is toxic because you guys wouldn’t even be the first or second YouTube reactors that drop the show due to commmets (ik that’s not the plan.) you can see other people below say they know people who dropped it as well. The one piece fandom will have a smaller toxic core group that gets a pass because the other 3/4 of the fanbase will defend them just because they are part of the same fanbase they are in “op isn’t toxic, you are dramatic, etc etc.” because one piece fans want to be the top dawgs they just let the toxic side slide because they wouldn’t dare to think about there being an actual problem in their favourite franchise. Small rant but that’s how this problem grew out of proportion compared to other shows. Yea jjk brainrot fans can have their moments and the such but it’s not the same consistency of negativity as OP. TLDR -> this is a fanbase issue and not a channel issue. This is my third rodeo seeing this

Chris Shadow

I really like your reaction and both of your opinions are always lovely to hear. I like your different approaches to some stuff. It would be sad to have you not watching One Piece anymore.

Szonin

Bro Carson, I’m sorry to say this so curtly, but you honestly need to get over it at this point. The longer you keep sitting there worrying about other people’s opinion of your opinion the worse it’ll get. I don’t know how many times it needs to be said, even if every comment you got was criticizing your takes that’s still at the end of the day a fraction of the people who watch the videos, the vast majority of people just watch then go about their days. I don’t know if it needs to be said, but it’s not as if people are just here to see Lindsay, you’re the other half of the channel and you drive a lot of the discussions. If people truly hated every take you had they wouldn’t be here to begin with when there are so many other reaction channels they could’ve choose to gone to instead. Don’t let your insecurities about internet comments ruin everything, you’ve invested so much time into this show, and we’ve invested quite a bit of both time AND money to see y’all get through the series. Don’t drop the ball 800 episodes in and leave everyone with disappointment and resentment because y’all dropped the series thinking everyone hates you when all most of us want is for y’all to see the show through to the end. I guarantee if you did drop it the hate you’d get from that decision would outweigh any amount of hate you’re potentially getting now.

Will.Har310

I’m really enjoying your discussions and reactions. That’s probably why I joined your Patreon. I love your unfiltered feedback, whether positive or negative. You explain the reasoning behind your feedback rather than simply labelling it. Your discussions are truly intelligent. I’ve also noticed some toxic comments and I understand your feelings. I suggest you take a break and do reactions when you’re feeling better. I’m genuinely enjoying watching it. I’ve already watched One piece over ten times and still gain valuable insights from you all. Don’t let the toxic people bother you. Sometimes it’s not about you or what you say, it’s just them dealing with personal issues and seeking something to dislike. Do the reactions for your own enjoyment, not because of others. I joined your Patreon because I’m interested in your thoughts and insights, so please keep doing it. Have a good rest and I’ll eagerly await more One Piece theories and discussions with you all. Cheers!

Melvin De Castro

Perhaps not looking at the comments would be a good idea for a while. I don’t engage with the OP fandom on platforms like reddit (for example), just because I know how toxic it can be if you don’t have “the” mainstream opinion about something. But please know that most people watching you two do it BECAUSE we love your analyses even when they diverge from the mainstream.

Annie

Well first of all, please take your time, i hope you are feeling better soon. i pretty much enjoy your speculations, theories or lets say "talks" after the episodes + podcast. my personal opinion is that pp started to praise the man a little too much these days.

Double_P94

I never comment, but I just wanted to say I love your content because of both of you! you guys are so rad and funny and have such amazing discussions both individually and together. take as much time as you need, but also do what makes you happy! that's the most important thing.

emeejee

I love you guys and your opinions. I love watching you theorize and figure things out naturally. You're great, and I look forward to when you return.

Irrevenant

I usually also don't comment, but what i love the most is people coming up with stuff, theoreizing and one of the reasons i subscribed to your patreon is because i definitly can see you guys are putting thought into the reactions and you do enjoy the shows themselves. I have no clue why some people are so bitter, i think you are doing a great job and i enjoyed your reactions so far. If you need a break take one, don't torture yourself

Rene

It's probably my fault because I don't comment, but I wanted to let you know, Carson, that I love your work. I love the way you talk about One Piece and I think it's my favorite One Piece reaction channel. It's always the same thing with negativity in the comments, there are so many more people who absolutely love what a small group of people will "hate" and sadly that's where most of your attention goes. So here's my contribution to the love part. I can only hope that one day, comments won't affect you that way anymore 🙌❤️

Tyrell D. Rose

This is sad. Are those negative comments coming from YouTube or Patreon?

Jack Shadow

I don’t really see any negative comments on patreon. I don’t really watch any reaction on YouTube. Are these negative comments coming from YouTube?

Fabulous

I'm similar 😉

Bun_s_Life

I love your reactions! I hope you don’t drop it all together, because you are my favorite reactors to one piece at the moment. Please take however much time you need off. I wish you all the best. 😇

IBG_Music

Lurker here, commenting to show support. I've watched numerous OP reactors, you guys have the best and meaningful discussions, and I'm here to stay for that

Hiro Lenka

This is a great idea! 💗

Bubbles

In the past, I used to watch numerous One Piece reaction videos. I likely experienced One Piece more than ten times through various reactors. Nowadays, I find myself unable to do so, with the exception of your guys content. The reactions from others consistently felt repetitive, and I struggled to engage with them. Currently, only your reactions and discussions are able to capture my interest and provide entertainment.

Jordan

I’m so so sorry you’re feeling like this and just want to reiterate word for word and second another comment I read: You guys have a very unique dynamic that sets u apart from the rest (your guys one piece reactions are literally my favorite I’ve seen bc I love your discussions and passion for the series- it shows) and Carson is a big part of that. I love Boldcast for **both** of u guys! I’d seriously miss u but completely understand the importance of taking care of your mental health. Please do what’s best for you and take all the time you need. 💗

Bubbles

That's kinda sad to hear. Didnt expect the comments to get to you. I never really read those type of comments so i dont, but I'm sure the majority of us love your thoughts and discussions. Hope you get better

Nauzder

I'll be honest here.. I think once an episode per day is actually too much.. You shld reduce 3-4 episodes instead. And learn how to not let comments get to you because some are haters done deliberately... If you cannot learn that theb content creation is not suitable.

JoanneLorac

Sorry to hear you've been feeling this way. I hope you take as much time as you need to feel better. Love your guy's reactions!

Michael DeArmas

You are my favorite reactors, your commentary is one of a kind. I'm already excited for your reactions to things that happen hundreds of episodes ahead. Unfortunately people are more likely to leave negative comments than positive ones.

Zoodinger

Oh buddy, do not let this get to you. If you enjoy the show, why let random people dictate what you’re allowed to watch or how you’re allowed to feel about it? You don’t owe anyone a perfectly curated reaction, and you definitely don’t owe strangers the power to ruin something you genuinely love. Mute the comments, step back from them, ignore them entirely if you need to. At the end of the day, we’re just people watching from afar. You’re the one living this, and you’re entitled to your honest thoughts, your honest feelings, and your own experience with the story. Anyone who has a problem with that can deal with it. I really like you guys, genuinely, and I honestly think the loud minority is probably a lot smaller than it feels right now. Sometimes the negative voices are just the ones that echo the loudest, even when they don’t represent most people. From where I’m standing, you might be giving them more weight than they deserve, and that’s understandable when you’re already worn down. But please don’t mistake noise for truth. You deserve to feel happy and proud of what you do, because whether you realize it or not, you actually help people. You help people who are down, people who feel lost, people who are in dark places and need something to look forward to. For a lot of us, your videos are not just “content.” They’re comfort, company, laughter, excitement, and a little bit of light on bad days. That matters more than you probably know. And the truth is, people are not there because you’re flawless. They’re there because you’re real. Because you care. Because your excitement feels genuine and your presence feels human. You’re allowed to be inaccurate sometimes. You’re allowed to miss things. You’re allowed to react imperfectly. That’s what makes it a reaction, not a scripted analysis made to please every person with a keyboard. Taking a couple of days to breathe and get your head together is absolutely the right call. Please choose yourself over the pressure. The show will still be there. The audience that actually cares about you will still be there too. Anyone worth listening to would rather see you protect your peace than push yourself into misery just to keep a schedule. So take your time. Be kind to yourself. And please remember that for every loud, miserable comment, there are so many more quiet people who appreciate you, support you, and are grateful for what you bring. We may not always be the loudest voices in the room, but we are here, and we want you to be okay first.

EOussama

Honestly you should consider dropping down to doing 4 or 5 episodes a week instead. Doing 1 per day for years is crazy and it's no wonder you guys are starting to get exhausted mentally and physically. Now with the live action on top as well, it's even worse.

dare

Real one's love your reaction

소양이💕

Man you are definitely letting people get to you too much. It's okay if people disagree with what you say 😭 we're all human. You guys are my favourite reactors man. Take some time, take a breath. Think like Luffy. As long as YOU enjoy what you do, the other people don't matter!! 💖💖

SomeoneElse

u should take a break, u guys deserve it after big consistent upload streaks. / dont hold back if u have anything negative to say pls <3

myridiann

This is so bizarre, you guys are awesome! Seriously, this is so weird, we're literally paying you to watch you, so who could say anything bad about it if nobody's forcing us to be here! Take your time and try to ignore the minority. I hope it doesn't take away your love for the show, I really enjoy watching you and I love your reactions.

Yere

Damn, i never read comments, can’t you all stfu for a bit when u disagree? Im trying to watch them bosses react to peak 😭🤲🏼

ideo

Lurker here! Take the time you need to sort your feelings out. It can be difficult over written comments to get emotions across, which would add anxiety as you don't know whether they were being super critical or not. Nevertheless, the reactions would not be the same without you bouncing thoughts off one another, even if it doesn't seem like it to yourself, we can see it clearly. There will always be the overly critical comments that will stick out more, but please be reassured that there are many more of us who love what you guys do.

Dwayne Pope

I already wrote a comment but I wanted to say another thing. That Trust me if the ppl truly hated your reactions I don’t think they would have subbed. I always think there are just ppl who have strong opinions and are demanding but if it truly bothered them then at this point they would have unsubscribed and not payed money. My point by saying that is to express that ppl truly love your reactions even if it’s hard for you to see that or hard to feel that bc there might be either negative comments or comments criticizing something. I know this is your job so I understand you guys wanting to take into consideration the opinions of the comments and feel pressured by it since it’s your job. That is completely understandable. It must be hard for you guys bc you obviously don’t want to do something wrong that might make you lose Patreon members. But I just want you to know that ppl really love your reaction videos. And if you have been able to watch 800+ episodes of One Piece and still have lots of ppl subbed here then that shows that there are ppl who really enjoy your reactions. Ppl are always gonna have different opinions and some might be more demanding but you have done nothing wrong. At the end of the day it’s just different opinions and theories about an anime. And some ppl are probably gonna disagree but most ppl who are in there right mind and write a comment disagreeing with you aren’t going to unsubscribe over that. It’s impossible to please everyone single person and have the same exact opinion to everyone else. Your reactions are enjoyable and seeing the other comments posted here under this post i can see others agree with me too. It’s understandable being worried and taking into consideration ppls comments since it’s your job but you have done nothing wrong. Your reactions are super enjoyable and having an opinion isn’t wrong. The worst you can do is miss something by accident and someone pointing it out so you know by next episode. And if ppl truly thought your opinions were bad then they wouldn’t keep subbing even after 800+ episodes. And I’ve struggled with mental health too so I can’t imagine the pressure you guys might feel. I know it’s easier said than done especially since this is your job but truly ignore the negative comments. If those ppl are truly bothered they could have unsubbed but clearly ppl still want to see your reactions and listen to your opinions. I can’t tell if there are more negative comments than usual from your perspective or if it’s always been the same. But either way I think ppl are more invested in your reactions and excited to see them so some ppl might be more ppl popping up point out this and that. Anyway sorry for repeating my self a lot. Just know ppl truly like your reactions and having an opinion isn’t wrong especially if it’s just theories on an anime. No matter how deep or unserious a show is it’s just an opinion. And I have loved your thoughts especially recently so I hope you are able to feel better. 💕

Kiki Varas

Pace yourself. You've been in a marathon this whole time. You're entering that part of the race where it's all mind over matter. Breaks, even extended ones, are needed to prevent burn out. In the case of reactions, if you enjoy the show and folks are supporting it, you're doing nothing wrong. There will always be people who have vocal negative opinions. As a community, a diverse set of opinions is expected and needed. People love to complain and be harsh when disagreeing but are much less likely to be as intense when complimenting. Long story, short: keep doing what you're doing as long as you enjoy what you're doing. Us folks that have enjoyed up until now will continue to expect your honest discussions.

Darksteel78

I can't even imagine watching anyone else's reactions to one piece/jjk/frieren/etc at this point. Other discussions (no offense to anyone) sometimes almost feel empty to me compared to yours. You guys have a very unique dynamic that sets you apart from others, and Carson is a big part of that, in my opinion. I couldn't wait to watch your S2 OPLA reactions and when I try to watch reactions to parts of one piece you haven't seen yet, I can't help but wonder what you guys would say about it. Just trying to say, you are the best and I'd hate to see you go. Take all the time you need.

Elay

Take as much time as you need man. It's always easier to remember the bad things than the good, and sometimes we can't help but hyperfocus on those bad things. Just remember you have a lot more people that are happy and patient to see your love and wonder and hope you enjoy or rage on the show. We love your reactions and discussions but most importantly, love you guys first. Take as much time as you need.

NovelDefender

Take all the time you need. All I want to say is that I subscribed your patreon simply because I really enjoy your discussions, and only your videos will I watch through to the end. ❤️

Julie

Not that long, just a couple days

BOLDcast

I think it’s clear he’s talking about the comments. They have been enjoying the recent One Piece arc but just struggling with there mental health bc of some of the comments and bc of it, It probably makes them uncomfortable doing One piece reactions bc of some of the negative comments.

Kiki Varas

I second that, they are the first reactors I wanted to take the time to actually line-up the uncut with and fully rewatch one piece and their commentary made me love the series that much more. There are many scenes that I saw in a new point of view or something I missed on my first watch that just deepens my love of the series so much more.

FoxfireEspresso

It's not clear whether he is saying he is getting tired of one piece as a story lately or specifically the comments or a little bit of both.

Nazim Belaidi

Take your time but I'm always happy to hear your commentary Carson. Idk though, you can't do anything about negative people. There will always be someone who's unhappy no matter what you do. Just gotta ignore those people and focus on everyone else. Your videos still get great like ratios on One Piece and they still do well on Patreon. Maybe instead of stepping away from One Piece, you step away from the comments? Just say whatever you're thinking and feeling and don't even bother to look at what everyone else is saying. I also have a hard time with not letting negative replies get me down and I've found that just turning notifications off for replies has helped me a lot with hyper focusing on it. Either way, I do hope that things get better.

Bachira

I agree. But it could also be one of those situations that even if there are a bunch of positive or neutral comments the negative ones might just stick out more. And everyone interprets things differently especially since the comments are directed at them it’s understandable that they might get more hurt by it compared to us since it’s not directed to us. I wish them lots of love. Hopefully they can feel better about it and know that they make great reactions.

Kiki Varas

Don’t know if this will help but honestly one of the things that drew me to you guys were your lengthy opinions, thoughts and discussions. There’s a lot of reactors these days that don’t really dive in deep when discussing anime and if they do it’s really short. I often find myself listening to your discussions while I clean or whatever else to pass the time. I really do enjoy your thoughts and theories. People can be such assholes just because they don’t agree with someone’s theories and opinions about something they’re experiencing for the first time. Please don’t give whoever is giving you grief about your reactions the time of day, they’re not worth your mental health. Your opinions, thoughts and theories are VALID and always super interesting. If you do decide to step away for a while we’ll definitely miss your reactions but we’ll all understand. Keep pushing forward and stay strong!

S_Flamingo

It's all good. Your guys' health is top priority as always, but uh I assume these negative comments are mostly coming from viewers on Youtube right? I just don't really notice any extreme negativity here on Patreon. Maybe I'm totally wrong but I feel like the vibe has been generally positive for a long while now. The reactions and discussions from y'all have been absolute peak especially recently.

100Rainy

I'm really sorry you feel that way Carson, take all the time you need. I love both Lindsay's your reactions and analysis of One Piece, sorry that I'm mostly a lurker and only comment to say things like "actually of you remember "x" thing happened and that why "y" thing is..." But I do appreciate your contributions, I have never paid Patreon solely for One Piece reactions more that one month before, and I'm here only since December, but it's funny hearing you say sometimes that you are critical of One Piece and watch both of you love the show so much. (I've been having a great time with your JJK and Frieren too) Maybe you should try not to read comments here and on YT for a while. I'm all over the place here but I just want to say that I hope you feel better about this whole ordeal, take your time and keep at it of you feel like it. After many years of watching just some highlights from other reactors, I'm here right now because you two are my favorite OP reactors by a mile

John Spartan

ImZeaT

I love you guys and your discussions and I’ve read some of the comments in the few recent one piece reactions but didn’t see any negativity. But I’m sure you guys get hundreds of comments and even if someone are positive the negative probably stick out more. Your feelings are completely valid and I hope you know we care for you and that even if you don’t think so I promise you that most ppl watching the One piece reactions love it and have nothing negative to say. But if this really bothers you but you still want to react to One piece I recommend from now on not look at the comments. There is a Patreon I sub to that doesn’t read any of the comments but they have a mod that helps them choose some positive or comments that might have important information they missed and those mods just send it to them. It helps that creator bc they don’t look at a negative comments or spoilers and they have the mods just tell them any important info the comments might have said or positive ones. And then that creator after the series is done or the arc they are able to look back at the comments if they want. I highly recommend you do this if you chose to continue One piece and want to not miss anything but also not look at the negative comments. 💕

Kiki Varas

Take your time and take care. I always enjoy watching your reactions , but i dont read the comments and dont always comment myself so I feel sorry i wasnt aware you were bothered by the comments. OP fans tend to love sharing their own point of view and arent always so positive themselves especially about the anime so i genuinely think they meant no harm even if some of them left comments disagreeing with some of your takes. They likely enjoy hearing different point of views more actually. Just as long you dont force yourself to enjoy it.

leno ;;

One piece is a show I love dearly, so I'm picky when watching anyone react to one piece. Watching you guys react to one piece made me love the show more. I learn so much about the show through this channel .The both of you are understand and express why one piece is so peak in the world. Sure you might make a mistake once in a while, but it's your first time Watching so there is going to be times where you might forget something in a show that us over 1,000 episodes long. If anyone in the one piece community is treating you unkindly and hurtful then they are the ones who don't understand one piece. Mental health comes first and I'm sorry that the one piece community might have contributed to you needing a break.

thomas dougherty

The discussions and theory’s are what makes you guys different. Take your time and take care of your mental health! Nothings more important than that.

Cesar

It's alright if you need to take a break from OP most fans are used to hearing the same takes from reaction channels and the unique things you guys pick up on is what keeps me around. The discussions are what make you guys different and if you feel like you can't discuss the series without it feeling like you're walking on eggshells then there is no point in trying to push through it. Take your time and we'll still be here if you want to pick it back up later.

Paragohn

Bro your discussions are the reason why I'm subbed as patreon. I can tell you really are an anime enthusiast. Honestly if people still can't pick up on your discussion style after 800 episodes thats on them at that point. I find it refreshing when i see reactors take in the story is unique ways. It's fine to take a break. Don't worry.

Skele

I have zero complaints most of us got drawn in by the your input , story is meant to bring people together yet people get upset over opinions still smh

Jeremy

tldr: very sorry you feel this way, but the people who actually follow you are "in" because they like the way you discuss & analyze things, not because they want you to become something you are not. So, don't change for them!

ImZeaT

If it makes you feel any better, just know that it's because of BOTH of you guys' thoughts & reactions on One Piece that I began to follow for all of your content. I know it's easy to say from where we're standing, but some people will never be satisfied because hate is the only thing the take joy in... Don't forget that a majority of people who follow you, who are actually subscribed, love BOLDcast for both Carson & Lindsay. Like, we want to hear what *you* guys think (whether positive or negative), that's why people stay for reaction content. Hope the best for you in the next few days and this community's love & support will be enough to convince you that a slim vocal minority is not worth trying to please. Take care!

ImZeaT

I can guarantee you that 98% of the people watching your OP reactions either respect or are indifferent to your takes and just want you guys to experience the same peak we're currently experiencing. Take as long as you wish, however keep in mind a lot of the time when you're in a headspace like this, things aren't nearly as bad as you think they are - and I'm speaking from experience.

ednapls

Haven't commented much recently but I have thoroughly been enjoying the reactions and the commentary. You're doing great, don't rush your mental health and take care of yourself.

FoxfireEspresso

Going to be honest, at this far in it's really only going to get worse before it gets better. I remember another reaction channel basically stopped all their uploads to YouTube because of the negative feedback from overzealous fans. You really are going to have to increase your armament haki. Perhaps an option would be to have deep discussions for the end of arc pods where you also can take a day to discuss in depth theories with the community. End of episode discussion could be limited to the episode(s) content only. Edit: I enjoy and appreciate the discussions.

Feignorance

Don’t feel like you need to change yourself to appease random people commenting on videos. You’re suppose watch shows to enjoy them not to make other people happy. The people that expect you to get everything single theory right or remember every little thing about the show are unrealistic. I can’t imagine how it feels though being in your position, but hopefully you can move forward without feeling like you’re walking on eggshells.

Fwosty

Hey man, I’m sorry you’re going through this. it’s tough out there. Even if it’s a small group, that stuff stays with you. I don’t even comment on YouTube these days just cause people might take things the wrong way tbh even if it’s something positive. But we’re all here cause we love how genuine your guys reactions/opinions are. Anyways, I don’t have much advice unfortunately. I’m not a very thick skinned person myself but I just wanted to give some empathy. Hope you feel better man <3

Reunion

Im so incredibly sorry you've been feeling that way Carson you're such a great guy and I have always appreciated your opinions and honest reactions over the years since the good ol aot days! Take as much time as you need! Its not easy to talk about feeling of mental health but not only are you brave for doing so, you're BOLD! Stay strong Warson! 🙂

Nazo

i'm sorry it got to that point, take all the time you need Carson. i personally love your contributions and analyses and i suppose it doesn't mean much coming from just me but i'm sorry the community is being very prickly with you. But again take all the time you need brother, mental health is important.

Clockwerk9000

I'm sorry to hear that. Take the time you need Carson. Some people just can't be satisfied.

Carlos Rojas

I've been absolutely loving your discussions and your reactions to the live action have been my favorite for sure sorry people are sucking

charlie

Sucks that you feel that way. Mental health and rest comes first. I can't speak for everyone but I personally really enjoy your contributions to the discussions and I think most people here do too.

Sanji Joestar

Take all the time you need, Carson. Your mental health comes way before our entertainment. That being said, please know that your perspective is a huge part of why we watch. BOLDCast just isn't the same without the dynamic between you and Lindsay. Don't let the loud minority drown out the fact that most of us love having you there

Silver -

I think the best way might be to turn One Piece youtube comments off. I think that would help tremendously if that's possible

Redding Tier

That suxks you feel this way. I've followed since yall started one piece and I appreciate the two of you. Especially the discussions. Its fun hearing your theories and speculation.

edgard

That's so strange. You have been really fun on One Piece I thought.

Envyus

Take care of yourself Carson

Croutonking65

Damn, i’m sorry to hear that.
