Trough the lens : Creativity

Small introduction:
For a while, I have wanted to share my knowledge and experience with what i call "philosophy of art". Basically more about the mindsets surrounding art, when u go in to art, how you deal with different problems most artists overcome, ideas around art and such.

I do this because I think it can help others, and also at the same time I can put my own perspectives out there, so that they can be tested by other peoples opinions!

!!!If this is a format people like, Id be happy to make more like these, so PLEASE LMK either here or on twitter if its something you would like to see more of!!!!

Warning: This is a opinion piece based on experience, and not a research-piece ,neither am I proficient in writing good essays, nor is my grammar very good.

Creativity

myth:
Creativity is something magical, that only some people have, like its a mana pool that only certain people tap into. And its something that flows into you

Is the notion I get from a lot of people, they don't always say it, but they talk like its the case, and i personally did so to before.

The problem:
This limited me, not only did it make my mind compare myself to something I imagined unreachable, but it also made me feel like I was a part of a unfavorable breed.
This both puts the focus on something that causes internal friction and drains you for nothing, instead of letting you do what u do, and find solutions with what u got, instead of finding problems that doesn't exist.

Also it creates the idea that you are only able to art when you feel creative. But if you REALLY want to become a artist or really good in your practice. You have to learn to be able to do this things when u don't have feel like it, or have the mojo. You need to learn to foster creativity so that its accessible to you whenever you need it.

A solution/my opinion:
I think creativity is the ability to mix aspects of different things together. Dragging something out of nothing is impossible. Everything made must be based on something else.

Even tho it might be true that some people/minds have a higher affinity/tuned mind towards creativity, or that it comes more naturally, doesn't mean that you can't practice it into yours. And i highly belive that most people can, it will just take more effort for some.

Try to not compare yourself to others, look at what you have now, and how you can work with that. EVERY minute you spend on it, is experience, its progress, even if you don't see it that way. Because every second u spend on it, is a second more you use your brain to figure these problems out, and how to deal with them. The brain is a muscle after all.

So, I think the solution is all about making it a habit, learning about art and how you can manipulate the different elements and then mix them together over time. Its not something you learn overnight, its something u learn over time by what you focus on and pay attention to. It's almost more a lifestyle than anything else, a lens to see the world trough.

Realizing these things helped me a lot personally, it made it easier for me to do art when i didn't feel like doing art, because its practice. Note: it's something that i had to relearn/figure out over time, it's nothing that came to me over night.

But I now feel that I have a strong foundation for it to share it with people, and I hope it can both inspire and help people with their problems.
