Logan Watch Along

Comments

Because its fking idiots running this thing

BadaBadaBing -

things would hit even harder about him being animal if you had watched The Wolverine. i really don't know why you were convinced to skip it.

Cregg Riley

nah nah i don't understand why. it's not okay, something important was actually skipped because everyone wanted to speed run to logan. you've missed yukio. she literally foreshadows this movie....and wow check it out...those movies are directed by the same guy....

Cregg Riley

wait...it was inconsequential? directed by the same guy....yukio says, "you will die with your heart in your hand. there's blood everywhere" oh sure it doesn't mean nothing does it

Cregg Riley

Not that permission is needed, but please do not apologize for expressing your emotions. Love all your reactions!

panacamanana

This one isn’t just a great “X-men movie”,it is a great film! Thank you Stef for being here with us to rewatch this masterpiece

C021B01

It's been skipped! Read the comments below to understand why

Howie

Yo what happened to The Wolverine 2013 film ???

BadaBadaBing -

Dude. You’re starting to really frustrate and piss me off. It’s not “rocket science”. We go about things because of overall viewers and time frames and there’s a lot that we take into consideration when going about our Watch list. We see everyone’s opinions and questions to our list all the time and we appreciate it and ALSO take that into consideration bc we’re consistently updating the list. Im getting really tired of seeing your disdainful comments; reach out to me directly if you want to keep going with the same attitude and condescending commentary

Stef Solari

And Jake yes, we’re always updating our movie list based on input and opinions etc. but just like @Cbt87 said it’s because we “have a lot of Marvel content to catch up on and it's kind of an inconsequential movie out of all the Fox X-Men movies. Solid movie but doesnt't really affect anything in universe.” We still go over everything and if everyone’s curious to see or watch a specific movie, we discuss it and I update you guys on streams or the next reaction etc. :)

Stef Solari

Umm I’m reading all the comments and I’m sorry this is the second time this has happened with you baldamort; with these condescending comments and I’ve read all of what you’ve said so far. My editor doesnt “control” the decisions. We thoroughly talk about what movies to put in the timeline and why or why not. We also Include patrons input and how everyone feels about what and how we’re watching films. We don’t just “La La La” it

Stef Solari

That's good to hear. I would suggest the directors cut of the original Daredevil, it's a much better, darker version. Hopefully she gets to the Netflix show at some point too, though I imagine she wont before No Way Home and will most likely miss the, you know, appearance. If you have to remove the comments then it's no problem, I understand. If she did end up watching The Wolverine at some point, as you probably know there is foreshadowing of what happens in Logan, that would definitely be quite interesting for someone that watched Logan first, giving more meaning to it. Something to think about. Regardless, keep doing what you're doing, she's lucky to have someone doing this that cares.

Jake Follain

Havits: Hey guys, i'm always glad to have these discussions with everyone. I'm not trying to gatekeep Stef's experience. In fact, I encourage discussion to help curate the best viewing adventure for her. Let's talk about this stuff in discord though, on the spoiler talk channel, to avoid any potential spoilers. Stef reads these comments here and I don't want to remove anyone's comments making it seem like i'm trying to silence you. These points are valid, but remember it's also my responsibility to make sure our youtube channel continues to succeed and grow and even falling back into these older x-men films has made the numbers drop a bit with a lot of general comments asking us to continue the MCU films. So there is a bit of balance I have to work with here. I agree with Jake here and I have thought about it. we're at the point where stef can at least watch the first 2 deadpool films and i have it in her schedule and we can knock some of these other films before deadpool three. Remember that i'm going in timeline order so there is time (no pun intended haha) . Again, please just reach out to me on discord and lets work together. I appreciate all of your guys' insight and appreciate you guys being committed to this community.

Stef Solari

This ^^

After No Way Home, at the very least you have to do Blade 1&2, Daredevil and the first Fantastic 4 (you don't need Elektra or Silver Surfer) would be good too but if not then Blade 1 is still a must, so long as she knows it's obviously a standalone movie and originally not connected to Fox X-Men or the MCU, I believe it's actually cool to know the backstory of Fox vs MCU and other legacy Marvel movies going into Deadpool 3, not only because of the references but purely because it's interesting to know the history of all of it, it makes what they did in the new Deadpool movie that much more beautiful and of course makes the reactions better. I'm sure she would be happy to have you explain some of the context about legacy Marvel movies, to prevent any confusion. Wesley Snipes as Blade is just iconic, the Godfather of modern Marvel superhero movies, it would be silly to miss it knowing what happens.

So you are not going to have her watch the movies that lead up to Deadpool 3s biggest payoffs. Right okay sure. Not knowing blade, Johnny storm, Electra wont do Stef any favors for deadpool 3. I dont agree with that choice and I wish she would let the community have more input on this because that will disappoint A LOT of people. Esepcailly since most other reactors makes sure they watch those movies before deadpool 3 and didnt regret it in the end.

Thats MR. Baldamort

agreed. Not sure why she isnt. This is rocket science.

Thats MR. Baldamort

I agree that yeah FOX had no idea what they were doing with their timeline. DO you plan on at least watching Blade? Since for obvious reasons for the Deadpool and Wolverine? Would be a let down if the biggest payoff the movie and she didnt know who he was. Not having her watch any of those movies will make for a lackluster reaction for the newest deadpool movie. There isnt any confusion with the fox properties other than the xmen timeline. Everything else like Fantastic 4, and the 3 Blade movies is self contained in their own universe. Thats why deadpool 3 is heavy with the muiltiverse stuff. I think it would be doing Stef and the audience a disservice to not have her watch at least those 2 films before deadpool 3 so it makes for a better reaction or else she will for sure be confused in deadpool 3 not knowing why the movie is hyping certain characters up.

Thats MR. Baldamort

Noon, watch loki after Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Also, you should really watch them in order of release

mawii yoo

Havits: @Cbt87 Nailed it ^ . We went back for pay offs and references that will be seen in deadpool. However we all know how much of a mess the fox properties were, so the idea was to always give a quick streamlined idea of what the x-men were as a whole. At the same time, Stef's biggest frustration with these throwbacks is the inconsistency in the writing and timelines of the movie. To introduce yet another one-off story that doesn't really have any weight and potentially introduces more contradictions felt unnecessary. (Someone also asked, then why did we watch Origins? because of the Origin scenes of Wolverine itself.) I know this might not be a popular decision, but the fox properties in itself have had a lot of issues and all the behind the scene issues with the studio is why we aren't going to run her through the other films like Fantastic 4, Ben Affleck DD, Elektra, etc. It just causes more confusion.

Stef Solari

He didn't become weaker naturally. He lived through every American war. Once he got the adamantium in his body, according to this movie, the adamantium poisoned his body over time. On top of that, at the end that doctor mentioned that he put gene therapy in the food (that genetically altered corn the farmer was talking about). Basically all of the food people eat every day slowly took away their powers

Dale Diaz

The mother was a random woman in Mexico. The video he watched said that they took women, fertilized their eggs with specific mutants and then they killed the women after they gave birth. That's all. that's why all the lab kids are mexican

Dale Diaz

I think it was skipped because they have a lot of Marvel content to catch up on and it's kind of an inconsequential movie out of all the Fox X-Men movies. Solid movie but doesnt't really affect anything in universe.

Cbt87

Im assuming her editor, told her to skip it. He controlls the decisions for her on what time watch i think, unfortunately, so you'd have to ask him

Thats MR. Baldamort

Im not sure who convinced you to skip The Wolverine movie but it's one the best ones. I hope it wasn't your editor. No offense but not the best choice there if it was. So many people would have wanted you to watch that. Other than Logan, it's one of his best X men films.

Thats MR. Baldamort

1. Definitely the best Fox Marvel movie. By the time Logan came out, so many good MCU movies were already released. So the people at Fox had a better idea of how to construct a good story. It helps the Wolverine has the most fleshed out backstory; Hugh Jackman played the character 8 times up to this point. Also, Logan's director James Mangold, also directed the 2013 Wolverine (a good X-Men movie), and he was able built upon his previous success. It's too bad you didn't watch it. 2. Lots of grown men wept at the ending too. 3. Logan was the first R rated Fox Marvel movie. So they were able to make the fighting scene more raw and violent than he other appearances in the X-Men movies.

Howie

The Wolverine (the one you skipped) is actually a decent movie and has the same director as Logan, is there any particular reason you skipped it?

Jake Follain

Why would she skip that and not Origins?

Jake Follain

Yep…This isn’t just the best X-men movie, it’s arguably one of the best super hero movies of all time. I don’t know of anyone who didn’t cry at it.

Kevin C

Absolutely love this movie! A couple things to note: - yes the adamantium inside him was poisoning him and slowing down his regenerative powers. - the wolverine movie you skipped, one of the mutants in that movie could see peoples deaths and saw Wolverines death and told him that he’d “die holding his heart in his hand”, which makes the scene with Logan holding Laura in his hands hit so much harder. - the fighting scenes were so good because this movie was rated R, so it allowed to show the brutality of it all which was great.

Alex Ocean

Stef, for an easier way to read up on the X-Men, you might look into the app Marvel Unlimited. It’s a subscription service which gives access to a whole library of comics though I’m not sure how extensive it is as it’s been a while since I subscribed. For the X-Men, aside from reading some of the first issues for origins of the original team (Cyclops, Jean Grey, Iceman, Beast, Angel), you want to look for Giant Size X-Men #1 which leads into the Uncanny X-Men series issue #94 where writer Chris Claremont officially began writing and would do so for over 15 years (I stopped reading after #300 as I was getting older and developed new interests but never stopped loving those stories). Claremont introduced a lot of the characters and plots woven into the films and animated series. Then there is the Old Man Logan series which has elements loosely adapted for elements of this film. Others will remember better where they introduce Laura (X23).

Ian Forbes

Got this sooner than I thought, AHHH!

Nacheeto

Thanks for the heads up

mawii yoo

She said on stream that The Wolverine would be skipped.

Nacheeto

Also, watch Deadpool & Wolverine in the offer of the MCU movie and Disney+ series releases

mawii yoo

What happened to The Wolverine reaction?

mawii yoo

Whatever you do Stef don’t watch Dark Phoenix, I watched in theaters years ago it did not hold up well especially the end, it’s even worse then x men origins Wolverine.
