As for the scientific background regarding the mutant X gene, I think the rationale is this - people have evolved over time and people have this latent sort of genetic framework that sets them up for certain types of mutations, but if they inherit and activate the mutant X gene, it like chain reacts with all this latent areas of the genetic structure and allows the powers to take effect. Reason for this is you see mutant families tend to have similar powers. Wolverine and Sabertooth are bothers and both have healing factor + heightened senses + claws, but they differ in that sabertooth is stronger, wolverine has a stronger healing factor, and wolverine's claws are retractable, sabertooth just grows extremely hard/sharp finger/toenails sort of like rhino horns. Also Cyclops (scott summers) has a brother in the comics, called Havok. They both have powers that give them access to incredible energy, but with cyclops, the power emits from his eyes whenever they're open. With Havok, he can control when he emits his power but he has no control over how it behaves, so its very unstable - it can lash out and hurt people he doesn't intend to. But there are other people who are related to mutants that arent mutants themselves - this makes me think that the "genetic framework" type of theory makes the most sense. Certain people build up those frameworks over generations such that when the mutant X gene is mutated or inherited, then triggered, it chain reacts with whatever parts of their genetic structure are compatible with it. This also would explain why some mutants are in different classes - some people just have minor mutant X compatibility so their powers are really minimal, and other people are fundamentally changed by their mutation altogether

Exactly my first thought when she asked the question lol

Bruh she evaporated an entire platoon of people with guns pointed at her. She evaporated the entire island. No way she's letting one of those needles or guns or the kid get anywhere near her without obliterating them. Even Logan couldn't get there with his clothes intact

X-Men 3 is universally considered the worst of the three. The director of the first two decided not to do this one and some of his creative team also left. It's still good you watched it for future reference in later X-men movies but don't take it too seriously as they really dropped the ball on X-Men 3. To say any more would give away spoilers.

Next is Wolverines origin story! Can't wait!

Yeah, there were definitely a lot of inconsistencies in this series, and a lot of moments that they just didn't think about. Sometimes it feels like they just splatter the walls hoping something sticks to make money. It felt like they had a brand name and just expected it was going to sell. To me, It really felt like they phoned it in trying to complete a trilogy, especially story-wise. Granted, the first two weren't amazing either when comparing it what we've seen of superhero movies in the recent years. Viewers didn't go into it expecting large exposition like we do these days. The series does continue with additional attempts to reinvent or rebuild, and a couple of the movies are better, but nothing I feel hits as good as some of the newer Marvel movies.

Thank you Stef :)

Yeah you were right about why they couldn’t use the cure on her. She was so powerful that she would have known the cure was approaching and destroyed it before it got within 10 feet of her. Wolverine is the only person or thing that could get close to her because of his rapid healing. She would have killed the boy too. They never really go to scientific with the X gene or mutation. It may have made it too complicated or convoluted. But sometimes mutants can have similar or the same powers as others. You’ll see that going forward. And that end credit scene! Earlier in the movie Charles was talking about a man born with no brain function and the ethics of transferring the consciousness of someone else into his body. It was foreshadowing this. Charles transferred his consciousness into that body before he died. Sorry for the long comment. Lastly, there are still some great X-men movies to come. It’s subjective but my favorite was always Days of Future Past which is yet to come. Thanks for the reaction.
