This was my first time seeing the extended version, and it did add some in-between scenes, some more historical depth early on, and answered a few more questions I had always had, so I'm glad you chose that version. Though this was historical fiction, I always look back on movies like this, and hope that similar stories did occur during great changes in human history. If it's all darkness, bleakness, and death without reward or change, then what the hell is the point.

2024-04-27 03:34:29 +0000 UTCIn the scene between Benjamin and Charlotte where you commented that you don't think you could marry your deceased sister's husband... funnily enough, something like that happened in my family a long time ago. My father was researching our family genealogy and came across two brothers that owned a cattle ranch in Canada. One brother was married, one was not. The married brother died, I believe from illness, and the unmarried brother married his brother's widow.

For films set during the American Revolution, The Crossing (2000) and Drums Along the Mohawk (1939) are both pretty good. The Johnny Tremain film from 1957 is entertaining as well and has some qualities, despite its sometimes lighthearted tone.
