Hey all!
Sorry for not being overly talkative the past few months; truth be told my IRL work has really been ramping up and been a source of significant stress of late, and when this happens I tend to retreat from social media a bit.
I have been working on the project though of course, though unsurprisingly it has been slow going. I have cancelled this month's billing so no one has been charged; I am aiming for a delivery next month, but if things get tighter I might need to pause that one too. I will keep you posted.
I do have big thing to share though. I am re-scoping DGA again, but this time downwards. I have been considering this for quite a while, and although its something I didn’t ‘want’ to do, it is the best thing for the project considering its timeline.
I am cutting all the intro which I have not yet started on. This will cut the remaining work almost in half, and allow me to focus on the bread and butter of the project, the growth. This also means that the project has every shot stood up in some form, with the exception of some of the smash cuts in 148. This means that it’s in a pretty stable shape, and is unlikely to have its scope adjusted in any significant way from here.
That's not to say there won’t be any changes; I will probably be making some slight adjustments to a handful of existing shots, but again it would be to cut them down to improve pacing as I feel they are dragging on a little too long, or showing something that another shot already shows. (as an example, I think that 173 can have a chunk removed as 174 gets the point across and the pacing/flow just dies around here)
The only real ‘problem’ area I have is that I don't think Renee’s trip on the growing wing is reading on 135 so I might need to make some slight adjustments in that area, but it will be to portray the existing action differently, not to add anything new.
I will also end up making some adjustments to the action at the end (shot 060 onwards), but it is unlikely to lead to a chunk of unstarted shots, like it has in the past.
Anyway, I don’t think the core of the project will be adversely affected by the cuts; they did help establish character and some sexual tension between the two, but this should still be effectively portrayed by the existing shots, and it's well past time to be a bit more grounded with the scope, to put it mildly! And it also means that almost all the work left is on the growth itself, which will be much fun for me :)
If you have any feedback or thoughts on pacing, even if you don’t have a solution, then please let me know!
