Up Next: Ms. Arran (Nasty Virtual V0.06) + Update on the project going forward

Introducing Ms. Arran, the next inspired character coming in Nasty Virtual Version 0.06.

Here's a few shots of the new character inspired by Samus Aran from the Metroid series. Also, you might notice a couple new outfits and customization options coming in V0.06.

Update on V0.06..

First I'd like to apologize for the long wait. V0.06 is about 95% complete with only the last bits of polish needed before it's ready for release.

In truth it should be out by now, but sadly I haven't had as much time to work on the project in the last month as I was hoping for.

With quite a few new additions coming in V0.06, it has been quite the challenge getting it ready in time, in large part because I've spent a lot longer creating the gameplay mechanics to support the free roam shooter game mode than I had initially anticipated spending. (Enemy AI and performance being a real headache here)

I had in fact planned out a larger game mode with exploration (and dialogue) in mind, but ultimately had to significantly reduce the scope of things to a simple "Horde Mode" third person shooter where you attempt to survive waves of increasing numbers of enemies.

Ultimately, I realized I wouldn't have enough time to realize my most ambitious ideas this time around, so it ended up being a much simpler game mode than I had planned at first, which I am okay with for this release, especially as it is my first time building out a shooter game of this kind. I do intend on building on this and possibly adding other types of game modes into the game further down the line in the not-too-near future.

And by that I mean that the main focus of this project will be going in a slightly different direction after V0.06 is released (more on that a little later in the next section of this post).

Last thing to mention on this arcade styled shooter mode... I tried pretty hard to get it playable on mobile (Android), but ultimately ran out of time and patience while optimizing the controls and performance. Therefore this mode will only be available on PC and Mac in V0.06, but will come to mobile in a future version.

Aside from the aforementioned game mode, there's a bunch of new additions in the Sex Simulator Gameplay side of things, but I will go into more detail in the release post which shouldn't be too far away now. I was hoping to release this weekend, but that will now creep into the early part of next week as I work on ironing out a couple really annoying bugs I am experiencing after upgrading the physics animation system.

A different focus for the project after V0.06 releases..

Once V0.06 is released, I will be changing the focus of the project at least for the rest of this year.

The plan will now be to focus less on adding new features or game modes, and instead put my energy into creating and including a much larger roster of Rule-34 inspired characters into the game.

To that effect I plan on having two Next Character Polls each month, with one coming in July and then two in each subsequent month. The goal is to have at least 18 Rule-34 inspired characters by the end of the year.

In addition to having 2 new characters each month, there will be new outfits, a few new environments, more hair style options and of course new sex animations and variations on existing sex animations. As all of these aren't as time consuming to prepare and don't require endless hours of bug fixes.

Many new customization options will also be coming, such as more body piercings and tattoos (in addition to nipple piercings and navel piercings which are coming in V0.06).

Why the change of focus?

As much as I enjoy adding new features and building out entirely new game modes, I fear I may eventually wear myself out if I spend the following months dealing with hours of bug fixes and performance hang-ups. (Sometimes I forget that I am still just one person and that pushing myself too far and too often could ultimately lead to burn-out)

It is probably for the best that I spend less time writing code (at least for the next few months).

So that's the first and least significant reason for this change (I still believe my capacity for overwork is pretty high - so don't be concerned, I'm fine)

The next, more important reason, is that I believe a lot of you are more interested in having more new characters inspired by your favorite characters from popular media, than in waiting for some of the features I've been coming up with lately (which I think the engagement on each Next Character Poll demonstrates)

I also currently enjoy designing new characters (and adding new outfits, animations and environments) more than the other parts of the project at the moment and would like to do more of that over the next months.

Finally, and most importantly, I want every Patron to get the full value for their contributions and right now I don't feel that most of you are getting that. I also would like to upload new versions more frequently as well as record and upload a lot more videos to Rule-34 and Twitter/X - and these are things I will be able to do more regularly once I scale back on all the endless hours spent writing and debugging code.

So there you have it, those are all the reasons for changing focus at least for the rest of this year.

Was expecting to have V0.06 compiled and uploaded much earlier but I've been met with a pretty frustrating data corruption error somewhere along the way and Unity simply won't compile the game. To fix it I've essentially been going through a process of rebuilding all of the Unity library data files that it first generates before it can compile the game. Unfortunately this takes time, but once it is done I'll have the V0.06 post uploaded. Hopefully it shouldn't take too much longer.
