Messenger Gryphon Repaint!

Hey guys! Hope everyone had a great Weekend and a happy Father's Day!

I recently came across this piece of fanart that I'd done of Ixkouu's Messenger Birbcat, Fulton, again. I had drawn it back in 2022 at around this time, and I remember being so proud of the torso and composition at the time 😂 Now, though I only gave myself a shorter period of time to work on it, I should be easier on myself, right? (because I was doing a series of these fanart pieces) WRONG. 😂 No but seriously, I came across it after having not seen it in like a year, and as soon as I did, I knew I wanted to take another crack at it. 😌👍

First thing was flip the image, because after looking at the refs again, I realized that certain feature, like the braid and how he carries the scroll tube were actually flipped on my piece. 😅 I must have flipped it when I was initially working on it, near the end, and not realized lol.

Next was to change the ratio, so that the piece wasn't awkwardly cut off at the crotch (something I had a habit of doing at the time 😂) and then liquify areas to adjust the pose.

After that, it was the longer process of just painting over everything to bring it forward to my current standard for anatomy and composition, this also involved adding the iridescent highlights and redoing the background.

Finally, I added a scarf and loincloth, because Ixkouu had updated his design slightly after I'd made this, so I felt it necessary to add those in. I did still keep a more bare variant though, just to pay homage to the original 😂
