Hey guys! Hope everyone's doing well!
Here he is! Bront's new updated look and outfit. Ultimately I do still like the design of his previous clothing, but I wanted to make a few changes. The first was the colour. I knew that I wanted to add green to the sword, and make it Crystalline in some way (this is tied to his backstory) And so, I needed to balance out that colour integration, by adding the reds. Ultimately though, with the reds, greens, teals and hints of gold or yellow, we actually have more of a tetradic scheme. The greens also have the effect of complimenting will with Bront himself due to his more red undertones tones. I also played with this by introducing a warm/red under-light for the character.
In terms of bodily appearance, he hasn't really changes all that much except that I've made him look a bit older and mature (basically just a slightly longer snout, and longer hair lol) It seems to have done the trick though. 😂
With his sword, I kept the overall shape, but the design has changed a bit. In his backstory, Bront basically acquires this sword through grabbing a portion of an obelisk, and then subsequently being struck by lighting (This is the reason for his right arm being severely scarred) The initial design had a look of molten stone or slag encompassing a blade. The idea with the new look though, is that it's actually a later stage of the weapon. Basically through means of using the weapon for years, the slag flakes off slowly to reveal a crystalline structure underneath, a sort of green obsidian. This earns the blade the title "Dark Fulminating Greatsword."
Bront's backstory:
Pre-Amnesia
- Comes from somewhat privileged upbringing. Father was a minor thane, acquiring land from past military service. Mother was a Seamstress. She passed during childbirth of the third child, which also killed the newborn. Bront has a much older brother (Bolam). He left home to become a druid (or green mage. Whatever works for DM).
- Bront was raised by his father, and also trained by him to acquire his current skillset.
- In his early Twenties, Bront’s father became ill and was no longer able to continue their training. Bront helped with some of his father’s responsibilities.
- On a day that Bront was absent from the home, the house was raided by cultists. Bront’s father was sacrificed for a ritual, and the property burned.
- Upon returning home, Bront finds inscriptions burned into the grounds, and tries to seek out the cultists to avenge his father’s death. Once he finds the group, he manages to take down some of them, however is not completely successful and is mistakenly magically transported to an unknown area. He develops amnesia as a result.
Post-Amnesia
- When Bront wakes up, he finds himself in an unknown coastal village. He has zero recollection of his past, except his name. The villagers are strangers to him, and he to them, and are therefore somewhat cautious around him. Bront begins doing odd jobs around the town to make himself useful and to repay them for their hospitality. The hope is that with time, he will regain some of is memories.
- After becoming more acquainted with the townsfolk, he becomes aware of a village legend that in the past, a fearsome monster escapes from it’s prison in the sea. In the most dire moments, A warrior was granted a gift from the sea and sky to protect the village, driving the beast back into its prison. It’s said that the Mountain was created as a gateway, because it acts as a link between the sea and sky. Should the beast ever return, a worthy warrior only need to return to the top of the mountain, and they shall be blessed with another gift. Should they not be worthy, they will die, and the village doomed.
- More time passes, and signs show of an approaching event ( first earthquakes, then a raging storm) An arrogant individual who claims to be the best warrior elects himself to climb the mountain. Bront is asked to escort him. When they reach the mountaintop, they find a set of three obelisks protruding from the ground. Clouds are swirling and a lightning storm is brewing. The arrogant fellow sees the lighting, and begins to fear for his life. He takes off and leaves Bront there.
- With no other choices left, and fearing for the safety of the village, Bront moves towards the center obelisk and places his hand out to touch it. Lightning strikes the obelisk hitting Bront as well, and he is sent flying back. As he wakes, he finds that his arm is burning (now severely scarred) and in his hand is a large chunky sword, partly covered in stone. Not completely sure of what had happened, he takes off back to the village.
- At this point the village is preparing for the beast, unsure if anyone would return from the mountain. To their surprise, Bront arrives, clothes slightly charred, with a large sword in hand.
- He fights the beast for them, and saves the village, becoming the folk hero of the village and earning the Surname “StormHoof”.
