Hey guys! Here's another update on the sculpt. (Once again, just a heads up that there is noodity in the following image set)
So after refining the anatomy a bit more and also adding in the vascularity, it was time to add colour. Luckily Dave Reed also had some tutorials geared towards that as well. This is the one that I watched before starting:

Fortunately, it seems that colouring is very much set up in a layering system, like with drawing apps, so it was more simple of a task than I was expecting ๐
After getting the colouring down on the different body part, keeping in mind to vary up the tones so that things wouldn't seem too flat, it was time to add in the last bits of detail in terms of scars. This was also pretty straight forward, since it was just the sculpting tools from before, with the difference of symmetry being turned off for this part.
Lastly, was just setting up the lighting and post processing, which is where things really started to pull together. There was lots of good advice for that here in this other video by Dave:

Like with colouring, a lot of the settings were similar to what would be in drawing apps too, so again there was a lot of familiarity, and it just came down to playing around with them to see what looked the best lol.
Next part would just be to give him clothing, but I think I'll wait on that until I finalized the designs on his 2d ref. If you wanna go back and see those in case you missed them, they can be found here:

And since I know i'm gonna get those comments, yes he now has bits. ๐ It was kind of a spur of the moment thing, and I felt like since all the anatomy was getting detail work, it would look better if EVERYTHING got that treatment. I will say that he does look more complete now lol๐
So that's it for now in terms of updates! Gonna get back to 2D for a bit now, but I'll keep this one in the back of my mind and maybe explore different venues and ideas for what to do with him in the future. If I plan to pose him, that's gonna be more work to re-sculpt the anatomy to work with the new pose, and buliding a skeleton and rigging him is pretty far from my field of expertise atm... ๐ (I imagine my skills are a lot less transferrable in that area too ๐) So regardless of what I do, there's gonna be a bit of a grace period for me to learn more. If any of you guys have questions or suggestions, I'm always open to hearing those as well, and advice is always welcome too! ๐
