The ergo whispers at the most human choice. Not necessarily a lie. Which is what Sophia clues us in on. “If you want this continue behaving in the way a human does” Telling Polendina of the love between puppet and human is the kind and human choice. Thats why the ergo whispers only for that option. Doing a cruel choice like breaking his heart with telling him his wish is impossible is not kind nor is it human. So the ergo doesn’t whisper for that.
