Baldur's Gate 3 - Episode 1

I just finished my 4th playthrough which was a Honour mode completion. Pushing about 525 hours of gametime. I fully expect Mapo to stumble upon some things that I've never seen before. Just hope he doesn't get super spoiled by commenters.

I agree. I actually hate the companion intros. And I'm a complete simp for this game and love almost everything about it. But I wish they didn't have those intros. Though it's not hugely subtle when travelling with him, knowing straight up astarion is a vampire kinda spoils things when you "find out." And seeing karlach is a companion gives you preconceptions when you first talk to wyll and he wants you to hunt a devil

i had the same experience, my first playthough thought this game is good played it again and was like ok this is an all time great game for me but then again game is very very long burn out is a real thing

Sometimes playing as characters that are already fleshed out by the devs allows for interesting and unique opportunities and events. A lot of people enjoy the option.

Great starting episode! Decent attempt on commander Zhalk, he is tough to beat with a direct approach. About the staff. Monks are proficient with simple weapons, so in this case staff is a "monk weapon", thus could be better than bare fists lol. Although, if you want to RP as bare fists fighter - go for it! I think the game considers any melee weapon monk is proficient with as a "monk weapon", thus you can use, for instance, short swords, daggers and such. And any party member can be for sure equipped with ranged weapon they are proficient with (switching between melee and ranged costs no actions). Edit: About the textures in the cutscene. It could be HDD thing, idk if you installed it on HDD or SSD. If HDD, the game has Slow HDD mode, but it sort of doesn't help. On SSD, after some tweaking video settings, I had no problems tbh.

It really doesn't spoil that much, only a premise of their story and nothing else really, these reveals as spoilers have "overblown" importance tbh, since they are like 1% of what makes a character. It is there just like in DOS2, like 1 to 1 similarity, exactly the same, because they are playable origin characters, not simply "companions", thus player who wishes to play as them for 1st time should have the option for introductory backstory (it is basically same as you build your own backstory for DnD character you're about to play in the campaign - it wouldn't be a spoiler). Although I agree, even tho the spoilers are small, I wish Larian put some spoiler warning there.

a little unfortunate that you watched the intro videos for the origin characters (in the character creator). that stuff spoils the companions so much.. people should have warned you!! also very stupid by Larian to not put a spoiler warning there<.< other than that great first episode!!

I haven't seen anyone else tell you, so just in case : I believe you can also rotate the camera by holding the middle mouse button, and you can also move by holding left click if you don't wanna have to always click around.
