Thanks so much!! Sorry, long day. So you’re saying I should aim to keep pwm lower if possible?? I do regularly use 24 on my larger quads because I use mark spats preset and he suggests 24. I can certainly feel the difference in torque and snappiness with 24 but there are a few quads I’ve had to leave at 48 because the DJI stab seemed to do better with the higher pwm. I am currently trying to get my 4 inch locked in since I just put the Axis Flying Argus 20x20 stack in it. It’s an f7 with AM32 55 amp esc!! So far so good but I’ve noticed a few jitters in footage when pulling out of dive. Today is the first time I’ve pulled it out in awhile and it was quite jumpy lol!! I think it’s pissed because it’s 3° outside in the cold Minnesota air but last time I flew it it was on the beach in SC and prob 60° lol!!

Thanks for hosting this Brian, we really got into the nitty-gritty and hashed out the situation which hopefully will be helpful going forward.

Sometimes ESC pwm affects video noise. Two ways this might happen. (1) higher pwm runs smoother (motors are smoother), reducing certain kind of motor noise from getting onto the camera sensor. (2) another possibility is higher PWM generally shows lower broadband noise floor. This noise is electrical. Both these hypotheses can be tested using ptb. If higher own fixes your issue then technically you don’t need to know why. But figuring out which of the 2 possibilities above are the cause, if can be useful for future reference, but also it implies there might be other ways to tackle the issue without having to resort to higher pwm, because there are downsides to that like reduced braking torque which plays into propwash handling and stability from external disturbances like wind. 24 or lower works better for that

This is so interesting thanks so much for sharing!! Just built my first AM32 quad!! It’s an AOS 4 with O4 and I love it!! Need to see if I can lock esc at 24 or 48 instead of variable?? Not sure if that’s the reason but I’ve had some shakes in O4 footage with rocksteady on. So I think it’s to do with pwm affecting DJI eis??? Any thoughts?
