started work on this project a while ago, here's a WIP post that I probably should've posted by now.
completed a quick reference sculpt to help guide my main model and made a new set of textures for this style. I might've been able to reuse the ones from the kobeni style (which were reused from the fishtail braid style LOL), but there were some missing smaller length hair chunks from it that would help make the bangs in the front easier and more accurate to my reference so I just made new textures altogether.
it definitely has been a while, more than a year since I made some, so I was a bit rusty. Those may not be perfect, but there's room in the texture sheet for additional pieces, or they changes can be made if needed as I model the hairstyle.
speaking of reference, I'm also uploading my reference board this time. I never did this when making wip posts for the other hairs, but might as well document that too and showcase it. I'm primarily targeting the blonde hairstyle in the upper left corner crossed with the black one next to it, so that is what it should hopefully resemble at the end. That being said, I am stealing some elements/details that I like from others, so it's not going to be an exact copy.
while I was searching and compiling the reference I did also find styles that were a bit longer than what I wanted for this project, so that gave me the ideea for a possible longer variant. I would just need to edit the back side after the normal style was done, so it wouldn't be too difficult or time consuming, especially compared to building one of these from scratch. I'm not going to do that right now, but it's something that I might do after, at some point in the future.
it's not showcased in this post, but I've also started modeling the hair at the time of writing this. I'm getting very close to finishing the first layer, but more on that in the next post. I'm not going to lie though, I am struggling a bit so far building the model. Maybe it's because it's been a long time since I last made one of these, or maybe the style is more complicated than I gave it credit initially. Still, progress is being made, so it's getting there.
