You know what would be REALLY interesting as a theory is if Julian is actually Stahli's morality and empathy and if you see Julian around then it means Stahli's conscience is outside of him at the moment. It would be an interesting subversion of the trope because usually when you see a characters' inner representative emotions show up, it's bad news and they represent the bad traits being present but what if instead, Julian as a Representative Emotion means that he is NOT being used by Stahli and despite his appearance he's actually something of a good guy. As creepy as Julian's appearance is, his dialogue seems to suggest he's Stahli's inner conscience telling him NOT to do the stupid stuff he wants to do. Like even in the comics outside of this story he's kinda been like that. "Oh so we're just validating YOUR hobbies then" is Stahli's inner conscience telling him to not judge other peoples' hobbies. He's imagining arguing with himself. Also if you think about it, Julian's appearance with the mask might be representative of how sociopaths put a mask up when they want to blend into society.
