2023-07-12 04:23:59 +0000 UTCI think what i love most about this chapter is that this is the first time we see something romantic (as opposed to intimate) between the characters and how Nao reacts. The big question up until now is "does Nao reciprocate these feelings? And if so, is he handling it any better?" So far, we've seen him having really bad reactions to a girl trying to getting close to him (at the end of nationals) but that said more about his emotional state and who he's comfortable with opening up to rather than his preferences. What i like about this is the fact that it's the biggest cliffhanger yet. We get treated to these amazing telltale facial expressions that let on more about their emotional state than the actual dialogue does. Judging by Nao's expression--and i could be totally wrong--tells me that he has way more feelings for Souta than the other way around for more reasons than he can comprehend. Souta has a stable, supportive family, which is why he can tell what he's feeling and why. Nao had a supportive mother and absent father, which is what creates his anxious attachment pattern; we just haven't really seen him fully attach himself to anyone yet. It's just beginning its formation: "We only see Nao smile again because of him." What his face depicts to me so eloquently is: "This is my chance... but I need him." The coolest thing about this to me is that this wasn't originally thought out this way, but these characters have taken a life of their own. Or maybe it's just my wild imagination ^^"
