It stunted my own ability to mature and has played a huge role in my relationship with my own family. You did a great job displaying this situation with the silence and looks between the siblings. My sister and I would do this too.

2021-08-07 20:13:54 +0000 UTCAt rereading, I can't help but think about how Nao never got to escape any of this. He still lives in the house where he had dance parties with his mother. The same house his sister used brighten the halls in. Where his dad barely interacted with him. The difference is now, everyone has escaped but him. Emi is off (at school?), the dad goes to work and ignores his family problems (for unknown reasons), and the mom was at her parents until recently. No one else had to walk through the same halls every day. Thinking about how different the silence is compared to the family noise. Only Nao, and he did it alone. Nao is so much more hurt than I realized. And I already thought the poor baby was broken.
