Weekly Update (April 16, 2025)

Hey everyone!

I'm feeling great about my progress with Jill and Ada's scene.  All of Ada's content is a day away from being completed, and then I return to Jill's portion of the project and finish that.  It's becoming likely that a VA Cut will be ready for my two voice actresses in a week!

I'm thrilled with the new features in Blender's updated render engine, EEVEE Next.  With raytracing and jittering (realistic shadowmaps), this real-time render engine is inching closer to Cycles-quality.  For those unaware, Cycles is the Blender render engine that makes life-like image quality, but takes ages to render.  As an animator who pushes out 7-8 min scenes, Cycles is not a viable option.  (2 mins a frame for a 15,000 frame render is just daunting!)  So I'm very impressed with EEVEE Next's output of 8 secs a frame for my 30 second WIP Clip for this week.

Speaking of...  For this week's WIP Clip, I wanted to debut my new facehugger model in an explosive way!  The clip starts with Ada being pussyhugged by a familiar hugger model.  Then an egg opens from across the room.  After Ada gets impatient, the facehugger (with his glorious tail) launches out of his egg and onto her face.

Technical Notes: No sound.  No facial expressions.  No hair physics.

The character poll for May 2025's scene will be posted later today or tomorrow.  I'm still finishing up testing the models that I retrieved from requests.  I do appreciate your interest in seeing your favorite fictional characters on the poll.  I did my best to fulfill as many requests as possible.  You may expect characters like Kitana, Liara, Hermione, Luna Snow, Sue Storm, Wonder Woman, Ahsoka, Barris Offee, Aerith, Sarraah Bryent (spelled wrong on purpose), and more.  The poll will have 16 characters to choose from.  So stay tuned for that!
