What venue/festival would you most like to play and sell out in your career?
I'd love to one day play Alexandra Palace! I saw BMTH at that venue and it quickly turned in to one of my fave venues!
What would you be doing if you weren’t a musician?
I've always thought I'd be a great hair dresser/stylist, unfortunately I have no qualifications in hair though so I'd be starting from scratch. Another option would be some kind of journalism/marketing as I love writing, and have a degree in professional and creative writing!
What’s the best and worst thing about being an artist?
The best thing is definitely playing live! It's such an incredible feeling to hear fans singing your own lyrics back at you, and that interaction is just incredible and such a buzz!
One of the worst parts is pretty much all other elements of touring, you're constantly tired, it's a lot of load ins, speedy deadlines, LONG journeys, and staying in really terrible accommodation,(and I mean really terrible,) because no matter what, a band at our level looses money touring, and so we can't afford nice things :(
What's been your most favourite part of 2022?
So many amazing things happened in 2022! I've got to say, playing Slamdunk Festival was incredible and a big life achievement for me. I've been going to Slamdunk since I was 15 so to finally be on the bill was a dream come true!
What's your favourite song ever?
This is the most difficult question ever.
I think I'll go with All I Wanted - Paramore🖤
However if you asked me next week I'm pretty sure it would be something different.
What is your favourite song to cover?
I really enjoyed covering Avril Lavigne - I'm With You, and also Flyleaf - All Around Me. They are on the As December Falls Patreon page if anyone wants to listen!
How tall are you?
I'm literally just under 5'5. However I wear a lot of tall shoes so everyone thinks I'm taller. Fun story, our merch girl Amy stood next to me whilst I wasn't wearing shoes for the first time only about a month ago, and she was suddenly shocked because she had no clue what my height was!
What are your cats favourite toys?
Tesco bag. Foil ball. Milk bottle top. Christmas wrapping paper. Anything that isn't an actual cat toy.🐱
Who would be your dream support for As December Falls in 2023?
I realise we have just played shows with these guys, but I'd love to go back on the road with Bowling for Soup. They were so much fun to tour with, and genuinely some of the nicest people we have ever met within the music industry. Hopefully a US tour!
Which is your favourite teletubby?
💚Dipsy💚 always and forever. He was my favourite when I was a tiny Beth and I'm not changing now✌️
Are you still working at the cafe?
Something I've been meaning to tell you all, no but yes.
So I'm actually on a 0 hours contract with them now, and I basically just provide cover when other members of staff are on holiday, so no longer managing the cafe full time.
It simply wasn't feasible with the touring schedule we had at the end of last year, and also I was beginning to feel very restricted and sad whilst I was there. It was a feeling of, if I wasn't here, think of all the things I could be doing. So now I'm helping out with all the BTS of As December Falls, and of course my patreon! Yet another reason why I am so thankful for every single one of you!
Was it a shock that Lukas decided to leave the band?
He told us a long time a go that he was thinking about leaving, and he was amazing enough to finish up all dates he had commited too, and offered to play other planned shows if we needed him. We still share a practice space and he's still our bestie. But plans change.
We created ADF almost 10 years ago, and we've all grown and sometimes priorities change. The last year we've played more shows than ever before, and that took a toll on Luke, he missed his wife, they want to start a family, and he simply wasn't enjoying the tour lifestyle. I am lucky enough to be in a band with my husband so it tends to be a bit easier for us, and it's also why we try so hard to have the BEST touring crew around us who understand, but even so, touring is hard! You've really got to LOVE what you're doing to stick it out, and I genuinely think it's why a lot of bands break up before they get where they want to.
But no, it wasn't particularly a shock, it's sad and we wish we still had him as he is an incredible musician and friend, but we wish him all the best with his teaching and starting a gorgeous family with his wife🖤
