We’re back!

For the last six months, this Patreon was paused, so you weren’t charged. We took some time off – but we also worked on videos.

A year ago, I was reading about the author of Dune, Frank Herbert. I learned all these crazy anecdotes, like Frank’s journey to Mexico in a hearse, and his wind turbine invention, and his paranormal interests… So I starting making a video about Frank. At first, I thought it would be a short “Ten Wild Facts about the Author of Dune” type video. But I kept researching, and ended up making this 40-minute documentary. Oops. I hope you like it!

We’ve never made a biographical non-fiction video before. So I tried hard to get the facts straight. I did a lot of research into Frank’s books, biographies, old interviews and articles. I was careful to cite my sources. The video editing was also a challenge – most of our videos use clips from TV shows and fan art – but for this historical video, we mostly just had old photos.

I’d like to hear your feedback! We might make small tweaks to the video before it’s released publicly. For now, it’s only available to Patreon supporters.

With the Frank video done, I want to finish the Fighters of Dune video, and the Destination: Void video. (Which are already 90% done). Then The Real Dune Part Two and The Philosophy of Dune videos. We’ll also cover the new Game of Thrones spinoff show, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, and House of the Dragon Season 3, when they come out. So there is a lot to come!

The whole reason we’re making Dune videos is because of a Patreon vote in 2020, when Patrons chose Dune as the topic for an Alt Shift X video. I figured we’d make one Dune video. But now, four years later, we’ve made several massive videos about Dune and Herbert, with more coming! These videos exist because of your support on Patreon – thank you!
