QTEs
Added 2022-09-13 02:02:56 +0000 UTCHey everyone!
So I've been playing through Marvel's Spiderman recently, and a thought struck me. It might be fun to end each of the boss fights with a QTE section. Something simple, probably no more than 3 inputs, and some sort of comedic failure on each one. Like QK preparing to charge forwards, the player missing the input to dodge in time, and she just splats into Megalith's ass.
I think it'd be fun both to give QK some cool takedowns of the bosses, and also provide some funny game overs for the failures, but I know the gaming community has a *very* love-hate relationship with QTEs, so I wanted to ask you guys what you think of the idea.
Let me know what you think with the poll, and provide any additional feedback/ideas in the comments below!

That's the plan!

2022-10-03 03:26:44 +0000 UTCI'm looking for humiliating stuff to happen when you fail them. Maybe make them easy to do. Such as the QTE's give ample time. But if you do fail you get humiliated in various ways.

2022-09-14 01:25:32 +0000 UTCLove the idea! If you were feeling extra ambitious, could work in qtes to between level cutscenes, if you wanted to have mini scenarios (two pigs try to butt bump QK and she needs to fly out of the way, or not…)

2022-09-13 05:57:03 +0000 UTCGlad you liked it! This will be a little different, but certainly the same principle.

2022-09-13 05:40:28 +0000 UTCYes. This is definitely the most important thing to get figured out, though at the moment I think I just want to gauge a general interest. And probably its own game over screen, yes.

2022-09-13 05:39:25 +0000 UTCYes, this is absolutely a huge consideration that I'll need to figure out. I was even possibly considering separating it from the fight entirely, like Texas's quickdraw scenes, but that might be a bit *too* disconnected at that point.

2022-09-13 05:39:20 +0000 UTCDon't remind me >.> I don't think I can physically do 'simple' any more. Everything needs to be overly complicated as I get more and more distracted by fun ideas!

2022-09-13 03:09:17 +0000 UTCNgl, my favorite moment in Texas was the loss from beating a 'dead' horse.

2022-09-13 02:34:52 +0000 UTCI agree with Nick. I like the idea, but what is the result of failure? Do we lose a life? It would be really unfair if one mistake cost an entire life especially at the end of a boss fight. Would failure result in its own death/game over screen?

2022-09-13 02:09:47 +0000 UTCI think an important part of the consideration is the consequences of failure and the checkpoint. Maybe have failing one cost QK an armor piece and put her back at the final bit of the boss's health, assuming she has enough health and lives? Maybe a full fledged loss if she fails while unarmored?
