Even after years of selective breeding, foxes are still very much wild animals. I put the four babies together in their outdoor enclosure. They’ve been completely fine with each other in the house, so after monitoring them for about 30 minutes in the enclosure I came inside to say goodbye to Zach before he went off to work.
I was inside 10 minutes.
When I came back out, two of the babies had each other by the throats. Locked and thrashing. I’m sure this marble female was the instigator considering her personality, but she took the worst part of the beating. It was extremely difficult to pull them off of each other. I was bitten in the process.
I haven’t seen babies be this aggressive before. Usually this is reserved for territorial adults.
We’re on our way to the vet to get a little staple to close up this gash.
Everyone is fine now and the other three are getting alone well. This girl just may have to stay separated from the others.
