So I have dry skin. I discovered that my piping-hot-burn-the-skin-off showers ~might~ be contributing to the problem. Who knew? Basically, hot showers strip away the natural oils on your skin and hair. These oils normally act as a protective barrier. Stripping them off your skin leaves your skin dry and more susceptible to skin damage.
In my research, I learned that cold showers aren't just good for your skin, but cold showers have also been shown to improve your immune system, your blood circulation, self control, and so much more! It's also probably better for the environment.
Taking cold showers seems like such an easy health hack, but I've been taking piping hot showers my whole life! And I mean HOT. I made this file to ease the cold shower transition, and to help anyone else who's interested. This one works pretty well. I'm not at ice-cold-Wim-Hof levels of cold tolerance, but I can say I genuinely enjoy showers slightly colder than lukewarm...which is enough to solve my dry skin issue. That's neat!
