From Now On chapter 3 - script scraps

Here are the alternative/scrapped scripts that were in chapter 3

They were good, but I could never really land on the path they were taking

Cut to the couple in the backyard, Lily is playing with the dogs. Danny is on the deck scrolling on his phone. Lily is running around, suddenly she trips on a rock and falls to the ground hard.

Danny notices and comes over.

Danny “Lily!? You okay?”

Danny kneels down to her. Lily sits up and shows him her leg, she has a scrape on her knee.

Lily “I-it hurts…”

Danny “You're alright, Hun. Let's get you inside and fix you up.”

Lily “Can you carry me?”

Danny “Of course.”

Danny picks up Lily and takes her to the house, the dogs follow them whimpering.

He takes her to the bathroom and sets her down on the counter. Danny gets some medicines and bandages. He pats down her wound with a damp towel, puts on some paste and bandages her up.

Lily “T-thank you… can you kiss it to make it feel better?”

Danny “Of course…”

Danny kisses her knee then stands up to kiss her on the lips.

The next day

Lily wakes up in bed but she notices Danny isn’t there.

She smells something good in the air.

Cut to Danny in the kitchen making breakfast. Lily walks in, wearing only her lingerie bottoms and one of Danny’s shirts.

Lily yawns “Hey…”

Danny “Hey, Hun. You want some eggs?”

Lily “Yea, scrambled…”

Lily takes a seat at the kitchen island.

Danny brings her eggs and she starts eating. Danny takes a seat and starts eating too.

Lily “T-thanks…”

She takes a bite.

Danny “Is something wrong?”

Lily “Just… thinking about things.” She takes another bite of eggs.

Danny “What about?”

Lily “Uhm… about our future… about marriage and stuff…”

Danny “Yea, about that…”

Lily looks up, concerned.

Danny “We… we can’t get married, Lily…”

Lily “Wha-why not?”

Danny “Imagine trying to explain that to anyone. We can’t get married till you’re 18, I’d be… God, 33… people would be asking questions, and if they found out about us… I’d likely go to jail…”

Lily “But, we can hide it, right?”

Danny “I don’t think so…”

Lily “But we love each other… can’t they understand that?”

Danny “Love doesn’t matter to the law, Lily.”

Lily “Fine!”

Lily gets up abruptly.

Lily “Go and date someone your own age then! And marry her!”

Lily storms off.

Danny “L-Lily! I’m sorry!

A door slams upstairs.

Danny is silent for a moment, then holds his head.

Danny “Fuck…”

Lily leans against the door and slides down, curling up to cry.

A while after, Danny comes up to talk to Lily. He stampers in front of the door, and suddenly it opens. Lily looks at Danny in shock.

Lily “S-sorry, I was just… coming to talk to you…”

Danny “Yea, me too…

There's a pause.

Lily “I… I'm sorry for what I said…”

Danny “I'm sorry too, I should've considered your feelings. I know marriage and having kids is important to you. I… was being selfish, and an idiot…”

Lily “It's okay, I was selfish too… I didn't mean what I said! Please don't marry someone else!”

Danny “Heh, I could never…”

Danny kneels down to Lily.

Danny “If…”

Danny moves Lily's hair behind her ear and holds her cheek.

Danny “If it really matters to you… we can get married and have lots of babies.”

Lily backs out and grins at Danny before hugging him even tighter.

-after Danny's parents come home-

Lily runs to the kitchen but stops when she sees Danny's dad. He hears her and turns around, seeing Lily.

Danny chats with his mom.

Danny's dad: Danny... come 'ere a moment

Danny walks to the kitchen to see his dad standing behind Lily, who looks super scared.

Danny is in utter shock.

His dad motions with his finger to follow him. They go into the garage.

Danny "Wait in the car, Lily..."

Lily reluctantly enters the car

Danny and his dad lean against the car.

dad "So... she yours?"

Danny "Somewhat... I'm taking care of her... she ran away from home, her mom was abusive towards her..."

dad "I see..."

Danny "...I couldn't stand the idea of her in an orphanage or anything like that... she deserves better... ...It's not easy, but... I do it all for her..."

dad "Is she happy?"

Danny "Yea... yea, I think so..."

dad "Then that's all that matters..."

His dad slowly put his arm around Danny, gripping his shoulder.

dad "I uh... I'm proud of you, Kiddo..."

Danny "...Thanks, Dad..."

His dad stands up "I won't tell your mother... God knows she'd flip. She's not ready to be a grandmother hahah..."

Danny "Haha... yea... thanks"

Danny's dad enters the house as Danny gets in the car and leaves.

mom "What was that all about?"

dad "Just... had to scold him for taking my drinks"

mom "You and your cheap ol drinks..."

dad "He's a good kid..."

mom "He sure is"
