TRIGUN Episode 11 & 12 Reaction UNCUT!

Comments

Diablo is 100% the turning point of the series, and easily one of my favorite episodes. I it's the first time we see Vash TRULY enraged and struggling with his philosophy and dedication to pacifism. Without giving any details, I'll just say that the show's ACTUAL plot starts here.

Starburstnova

Wolfwood wanting to save the human-trafficers lives by sacrificing the victims of human-trafficing is a WILD way to "save people" but I am glad Vash solved it and it seems like Wolfwood may have learned something from that.

Can’t wait for their reaction to Vashs story, it’s so good

Metastatic Malady

Yeah the story is pretty good so far, but now is when it really ramps up.

Dale Cooper

Legato is voice by the same VA who did Kenshin In Rurouni Kenshin. The MC is also a character who is against killing so he juxtaposition is crazy. Man has range.

Dale Cooper

That’s a wonderful analysis of the characters and show.

Metastatic Malady

Also Spider-Man is from Queens lol

Also before everyone else gets in talking about it, the next episode (episode 13) is a clipshow, for the most part. I understand if this is disappointing since there's only 26 episodes, but they do use it to tell some new story, so I would encourage you to just dig in and enjoy. As a side note, I think it's bizarre that they did it because it's only halfway through the series, so they're just doing a "Best of the First Half of Trigun" episode, but it's still got a lot of info you want to hear. Bad showrunning but an important episode.

In the words of Legato, your reaction was better than I'd hoped!

Owen Kosik

Now the real story begins

AIRS

I have several things I would like to say. Firstly, I would like to say thanks for the in depth and detailed discussion points. It's always a joy to hear your thoughts and speculation. There are things your very close on, things way off the mark on and things that may be correct but not in the way you might think. I really like these two episodes because they embody as a microcosm the humanist fable trigun is telling. Episode 11 in particular is great at this. It might be more low key than episode 12, but the examination of wolfwoods moral and ethical system contrasted with vash and millys attempted optimism against the reality of the situation is genius. You have probably already noticed, but Vash Meryl and Millie Wolfwood are intentional plays off of each other. Meryl and Wolfwood are more of the realist types who take the world at face value, whereas vash and milly try to see the best in humanity and act on that in their personal lives. Episode 11 I would keep in mind in particular for the rest of the series, because o can promise you this is not the last time we will see an examination of the trolley problem in the series, and in fact the ethical and moral dilemmas and debates brought on by the trolley problem will only grow more important as the series goes on. Episode 12 I like for a different reason in that not only do we see a straightforward furthering of the wider plot and mystery surrounding vash, but importantly, this is the Episode where Meryl truly begins to truly see all of vashs many sides. He can be cheery, serious, downright dangerous, and emotional when confronted with extreme circumstances. He is far from the evil wicked natural disaster he is known as from tales, but also he is far from the shallow goofy womanizing man she had been so exasperated by in the past. Learning about the real vash by seeing him cry and emotionally wrestle with the morality and ethical consequences of retributive violence despite the inhumanity he is forced to experience shakes her down to her core. It's also clear Vash values the moral principles and ideals Rem talks about, in essence that the value of humanity is therein the capacity for infinite choice and infinite capability for good and evil, and thus is worthy of allowing to continue an manifest. The fact that human goodness may be rare, does not erase the value of humanity in itself because of inherent capacity of manifesting it, and more importantly, being equally blessed with the ability to sin yet simultaneously the ability to see the error of our ways and repent through self reflection and bettering ones self through reflection or other people's example.
