June 2025 Development Update

Hey folks,

Welcome to the development update for June! Work has been proceeding smoothly, so I’m pleased to report that there’s not much to report.

First, in case you missed it on bluesky or the discord: we've just hit 5000 itch.io downloads! Hitting a milestone this big before the release of the second chapter is pretty exciting, and I continue to be humbled by the warm reception the game has gotten.

And hopefully you'll be enjoying the next part soon; for anyone not currently backing the Patreon, the public build of chapter 2 will be released June 7th. There aren’t any notable changes from the patron version, but with the release you’ll also be able to enjoy some of the polish improvements including sprite color grading added to chapter 1. If you're not sure what I mean by that, check out this past devlog.

In the meantime, chapter 3 has been in development. Based on estimates from artists, it currently seems likely to enter beta testing in mid to late July. Some art assets are actually quite close to done (side note, is there any interest in CG previews and the like as a patron benefit?), and I’m very excited for you to see what we’ve got in store.

In personal news, I’m actually gearing up for a move within the next couple weeks. I’m not currently anticipating any effects on development since release speed is ultimately more bottlenecked by art asset creation than anything else, but no plan survives contact with the enemy (and I’ll probably be in and out of contact and an emotionally wreck generally for a bit).
