I think youtube channel Mother's Basement put it best when he described the first saga of this show (East Blue Saga) as the "tutorial zone" of a massive and epic "open world game". I started reading One Piece when I was 14. I'm 35 now and the series is just as great if not even better than before. I've been a fan for close to 2/3rds of my life and I love watching folks react to this show for the first time. It's so satisfying to vicariously watch the series through someone else's eyes.
