Midweek spoilers - Simulated combat and horrors

Am I going to use part of my time this week to make my audience @#%^$ a sentient tree-stump? Yes, and you can't stop me.

But first, significantly less interesting things. In two weeks we will be switching over to monthly releases, and I want to release something big once we do so. Namely, the simulated combat system.

Simulated combat: TLDR: Add a second encounter type that revolves more around stats and skills. The current combat system (Combat 2.0), is the narrative puzzle system you will be familiar with. It does its job of telling stories very well, and will continue to be used. However, it does come with some drawbacks. By its nature as a little story, the number of interactions (with skills, spells, and items) is limited, and every playthrough of the encounter is the same. This makes it suitable for one-off fights, but a poor fit for more generic enemies, also it limits the number of interesting items and skills I can design. With [Simulation 2.0] allowing for more interesting on-map interactions, I will likely be adding more generic NPC to toy with, with that also comes a need for a more generic encounter type. This combat type will be a blend of a 'cuddle competition' and a wrestle the opponents out of their clothes style shenanigans.

Unfortunately, this is going to take two weeks to implement the first version of, so this week's update will be rather sparse. There will be some minor fixes to stuff, but not much of note. But we will be back with the big guns the week after. The UI is far from final, but you can have a peek at the in progress version in the screenshots.

I also drew a thing:

I needed something generic to test the encounter with, and was gremlin mood, thus the wood sprite was born. This little beasty will be harassing players as part of the tutorial for the new fight type. May their nightmares be grand~

Love,

If the tree stump wants my seeds, I'm down for it. I have NO shame as long as it's consensual between the two of us and they can feasibly pass the Harkness test.
