Solo Day in Kota Kinabalu: How I Spent My Last Day Here

Honestly guys, I was kinda confused about what to do in KK since my friend already went back to Indonesia. But before that, let’s do a quick review of my capsule hotel here! It’s called Jpod Capsul Hotel and I got it for only 12 USD.

They gave me a capsule unit on the 3rd floor, and guess what—there’s no elevator here, just stairs all the way up and down haha.

Now let’s check out what the capsule looks like… leeeet’s gooooo!

So, what kind of facilities do you think they’ve got inside? I’m super curious too, hehe. Let’s explore and see what’s waiting for us inside this capsule hotel!

Yep, turns out it’s actually pretty cozy inside, guys! You get a power outlet, some hangers for your clothes, a mirror, a little desk, spotlight lighting, and even a mini safe. Not bad at all for a capsule, right?

I went ahead and tried lying down right away haha, and it was actually pretty comfy! 😆

Right next to the capsule unit, they also provide lockers for your stuff. And the best part? They’re super spacious! Even my big suitcase over 24 inches fits in perfectly. Such a lifesaver! So on the 3rd floor, it turns out it’s mixed—both girls and guys stay here. Same goes for the bathroom too. Anyway, let’s go check out the bathroom, leeeet’s gooo! But unfortunately, the only amenity they provided was just a towel. No toiletries like soap, toothpaste, or even a toothbrush in the bathroom—so you gotta bring your own. Anyway, lezzzgooo, I hopped straight into the shower haha!

Oh, and FYI for my Muslim friends—there’s no prayer room (mushola) here. But don’t worry, there’s still some space in front of the capsule area where you can pray. Just remember to bring your own prayer mat. They even have a Qibla direction sign here, which is super helpful.Another nice thing is—they also provide breakfast here! The menu is pretty light, but still, it’s available from 7 to 9 in the morning. And oh, on the first floor you can also grab free drinking water anytime. Super handy, right?Around the hotel, there are also plenty of food spots—like seriously, lots of restaurants nearby! One of them I tried for lunch was this place called Warung Nasi YAKEEN.A meal here costs around 2.5USD, and it even comes with soup! But honestly… the food in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah doesn’t really suit my taste buds that much, hehe.

As for my last day in KK, I basically just worked from morning till evening at the hotel lobby. Didn’t really feel like going anywhere anymore—and to be fair, I had quite a lot to get done too. So while waiting for my flight—around 1 AM—I just stayed and chilled at the hotel lobby, hehe.

And here’s a photo I took at the airport! Can you guess where I’m flying to next? Yup—you got it! I’m heading off to Manila, Philippines!!! 🇵🇭

What kind of adventures are waiting for me there? Stay tuned to find out!
