Around 12:30 PM, I arrived at Jame' 'Asr Hassanil Bolkiah. My friend went home first and will pick me up after I finish Jummah prayer. Anyway, this mosque is huge and absolutely beautiful — you can really feel the luxury!
This mosque was built in 1988 and officially inaugurated in 1994, taking about six years to complete. Its main dome is covered in 24k gold — just imagine that much gold, that huge… wow!
ts towers are about 58 meters tall — super tall!
Inside the mosque, there’s even an escalator! It’s usually used by the Sultan of Brunei when visiting, but on regular days, it’s available for worshippers — especially the elderly who find stairs difficult. As for me, I definitely take the stairs since I’m not quite elderly yet, hahaha.

Here, people are lining up for cold drinks.
Let’s head into the mosque’s terrace area.
What makes this mosque even more unique is the number 29 everywhere — it has 29 domes, 29 towers or pillars, and even 29 chandeliers. This is because the Sultan of Brunei is the 29th in the royal lineage.
Oh, and this mosque was built on a 20-hectare site and can accommodate 5,000 people — no wonder it’s the largest and grandest mosque in Brunei.

This is the ablution area. For the seated wudu stations, they use sensors, so you won’t actually see any faucets here.

Let’s go inside!!
Just like the mosque I visited yesterday, this one also combines materials from several countries for its interior decor — crystal chandeliers from Australia, marble from Italy, granite from Shanghai, and carpets from Saudi Arabia.
It was such a refreshing and awe-inspiring experience — the beauty of this mosque makes you feel calm and want to stay for hours, hehe. Around 1:30 PM, Jummah prayer ended. I wonder, where will I be taken next?
To be continued . . .
