Day 2 in Bangkok: Friday Prayers

It’s my second day in Bangkok, and since it’s Friday, I decided to join the Friday prayers here. I wasn’t sure what the vibe would be like, but luckily I picked a place to stay that’s close to a mosque, so it’s really convenient. From my accommodation, I just had to take a short walk through a small alley to reach the mosque.

The mosque is called Darul Aman

This street is packed with halal food—seriously, you’ll be spoiled for choice! Many of the vendors are Muslim, and you’ll see lots of women wearing hijabs too. If you’re on the hunt for halal food, this spot is a total win!

As I was about to enter the mosque, I was warmly greeted with a salam by the guard—so friendly! Inside, the mosque felt very similar to those back in Indonesia, with both an indoor (air-conditioned) area and a semi-outdoor section with fans. I chose to sit inside since Bangkok was quite hot that day.”

Here, they don’t provide sarongs, but they do have robes and prayer mats in case you didn’t bring your own.

Inside, it was super cool thanks to the huge air conditioner—seriously, it felt amazing! There was also a donation box for anyone who wanted to give some charity.

The sermon was, of course, in Thai—so the only part I could really follow was the prayers. But overall, it felt quite similar to Friday prayers back in Indonesia.

The prayer ended around 1 PM.

Up next, I’m heading to an onsen. Curious how it goes?

To be continued…
