What's Next?

Hey everyone!

With this being the last portion of the Texas game, I have been considering the question of what comes next. Obviously I'll have the Quantum Knight game going on the side, but I need a new, big, main project to sink my teeth into. So here's my current ideas:

Time Wolf 2!

Time Wolf was always meant to be a much longer game, stretching through multiple time periods as you pursue a time-hopping criminal stealing various artefacts from them. Egyptian, Medieval, Wild West, Modern Day and the Future, I had plans for enemies, bosses, mechanics and game overs for them all.

Ultimately however, I started on Texas in Trouble and my attention was snatched away by that, so Time Wolf ended up only having its first level completed. Also... I cannot deny that the first Time Wolf was rough and frustrating, but learning from past mistakes and with the knowledge I've gained from TiT, I think I can improve the quality of the sequel exponentially!

It might even be fun to play!

Unnamed Stealth Game

Another concept I've been thinking about for a while is that of a stealth game. Stream attendees may have heard me mention this a few times, but it would be a 2D platformer like Mark of the Ninja, though drawing more gameplay influence from the Thief series. You would play a squirrel girl trying to prove that she's the best thief her city's ever seen, as the city itself gets more dangerous and hostile towards her and her kind. Private security companies start hiring hulking, squirrel-squashing guards, using crushing mechanical traps, and going to any lengths necessary to catch the master thief making them look bad.

Time Wolf 2 would be a relatively easy, but this would be an ambitious project, and not something I've tackled before in terms of gameplay. That being said, I have a lot of ideas and concepts in mind for it, and my hope is to make a genuinely good and engaging stealth game as well as deliver some solid kink material.

More Texas In Trouble?

The third option would be to work a little more on Texas in Trouble, probably adding one final, secret boss to the game. It would very much be kicking the can down the road on making a decision about the next project, but I do have ideas for this. I've been wanting to add a secret boss to the game since level 2, but just haven't ever managed to find the time/motivation to get the work done outside of stream hours.

In any case, those are the three options I'm currently considering. Feel free to suggest other ideas in the comments below, though this is just to measure people's opinion of what they'd like to see next. I can't actually guarantee, nor would I want to guarantee, that the winner of the poll is actually what will be the next project. But let me know what you think!

Thanks everyone!

You know, coming back to this, I think the most optimal way to do this, would be to first do the Texas secret boss to finish The Texas game out strong, and tha tis likely the shortest of the 3 options. Then go into Timewolf 2, to get more experiance and because it is the highest vote, and then do the stealth game later, once you have even more experiance. Because honestly, I'm excited for all 3. xD

Doktor

It would not... It would be a certain rat.

SquashedFlat

I never ask you questions but I’m curious would the secret boss in Texas is toast be a certain bartender??

Jake

I really botched the platforming difficulty in the first one, so I'd definitely try to make it easier/less frustrating.

SquashedFlat

Ah shucks! Well, Cainiam gets most of the credit there!

SquashedFlat

Exactly why I think it would be good to finish up with that secret boss before moving on, to give it a good sense of closure.

Doktor

Mostly going off of the interactive stories involving Samantha. The world is so fascinating!

Ryan Smith

You already bought me with this comment😂

xddjoba

So Time Wolf will be a direct platform? I hate intense timing jumps.. I hope we don't have those kind of things.

Drages Animations

Dinos would only be in the first time period, but I agree! Thank you!

SquashedFlat

Thank you! It's certainly one I've been thinking about a lot. It interests me the most, but it also would be the most difficult, ambitious, and time consuming.

SquashedFlat

Oh, they'd definitely be huge, without a doubt. Not macro sized, but certainly one of the bigger gals. Probably almost as wide as she is tall.

SquashedFlat

Dinos are definitely a favourite of mine! Though they would only be the first time period of the sequel.

SquashedFlat

A fair point. If I moved onto a new project I probably wouldn't return to Texas in Trouble.

SquashedFlat

That's fair, the rat didn't get a lot of love early on so a secret rat boss would be great!

Desertfox78

Huh, interesting concept, but I think I might want to move away from Beat 'em Ups after TiT is complete. Time Wolf 2 would DEFINITELY bring back the dinos though.

SquashedFlat

Time Wolf was certainly very rough, but Time Wolf 2 would be far better quality in both art and gameplay. And it would have more story too. The stealth game would have more story than that though, I think.

SquashedFlat

I can't really say I thought Time Wolf had much lore to it, but I think it definitely holds a place in people's hearts. Thanks!

SquashedFlat

As fun as that sounds, the secret boss would be a rat.

SquashedFlat

Better story, more mechanics, and a lot more game. Time Wolf 1 was basically just what I had planned for the first level of Time Wolf 2. (Though I would have the first level of TW2 be prehistoric again.)

SquashedFlat

That's a fair enough perspective, but this would be more like 120%, since it's above and beyond what it needs to be complete.

SquashedFlat

Very possible, though if I start Time Wolf or the stealth game, that will likely be a multi-year long project, so the other won't be developed for a LONG time.

SquashedFlat

I vote Time Wolf, either a remake or sequel. There are never enough dinos.

Domadet

kinky stealth game with gameplay like mark of the ninja. I'm actually shocked that it's not winning i want to see that game come to fruition at some point!!

Cian Daly

As long as the secret boss would be big/huge compared to Texas then absolutely TiT. But I don't mind huge dinos stomping/squashing a wolf neither :D

xddjoba

Going with time wolf 2. It’s been a little underrated but who doesn’t like dinos stomping, nomming, and farting.

Foxen The Fox

I think continuing on Texas for now would be a rather cool choice! I am very interested to see what/who a secret boss would be and what it would entail! And with going with the Texas option, it would be easier to move onto a new project afterwards, like Timewolf 2. It would be a bit harder to go from Timewolf 2 back to Texas for adding a secret boss. on the other hand. Might as well keep in the groove!

Doktor

You may go for old Moonstone game style too. A big map with enemy zones like Beat em up levels but only one screen. You get loot by beating them. There are cities, shops.. It would fit to your style I guess. I choose Time Wolf as there is tons of opportunities with ages. It would be lovely to see dinos again with your current skills too.

Drages Animations

I did not enjoy time wolf to much its very rough but there is something there and if you add story like with tex it might be fun, but I am definitely interested in the stealth game

Dandarkheart

Love the lore of Time wolf and that first game was how I found you. I'd vote for more Time Travel chaos!

Ryan Smith

Time wolf 2 would be interesting! But maybe if you have the time and still wrestling with the idea, I secret, maybe skunk boss would sit very well with TiT!

Desertfox78

Time Wolf was what first brought me into your work and got me interested in fur squashing/gassing, so it holds a very special place in my heart. The variety would be great, the relative ease would make it less painful to create too. Can I ask, what changes would you anticipate compared to the first one, aside from better coding and graphics?

Bob Hoskins

Well if u ask me, u're almost done with Texas in Trouble, idk if adding more stuff could be a little annoying, but with that u definetily finish the game like 100%. Im into Times Wolf, but Getting 100% Texas in Trouble sounds awesome.

TurlessFX

I'll throw my hat at Time Wolf 2 and more Texas. I think you can greatly improve on Time Wolf given to how much you have improve on sprite work and game development. More Texas cause I heard you talk about that secret boss and it would be interesting to see. While you do these you can write down your ideas for the stealth game.

Locorotor

Heh, that's quite a specific scenario... It's certainly possible, but it'd be limited. In the stealth game I had an idea for a level where you need to break a sidekick out of a holding cell, and in Time Wolf 2 I liked the idea of a Wild West level where you have to secretly help Texas not get squashed.

SquashedFlat

I love that one too, I'm just a bit worried I won't do it justice, or it'll have even longer development times. Definitely the ambitious choice though, and I do like going with the ambitious route!

SquashedFlat

:o :o :o :o :o

Nick Davis

Whatever gets chosen, I hope there will be another side kick that you could purposefully choose not to help and watch get squashed by your enemies. TnT awoken that inside of me and I had no idea I'd be so into it. Appreciate your hard work!

Ulras

All of them.

SquashedFlat

Fair enough!

SquashedFlat

That's fair enough! I definitely had some ideas I liked for the Egypt level.

SquashedFlat

I really like the stealth game you proposed so many times during streams.

Kazecat

A certain fat rat.

SquashedFlat

Which one is more likely to have AV in it? Cause that’s what I’m going with 😂

Bobby Mackolatoo

The first one is indeed frustrating. I honestly haven't gotten very far on it since hitboxes are a bit unfair sometimes. But I would be interested in seeing it ironed out.

Razor_Wolf

What kind of a secret boss are you thinking of?

Nick Davis

Definitely time wolf~! Loved the first game and I’d love a sequel. Egypt would be my pic for a setting cause I adore that kind of history. And other time periods are awesome as well!
