2023 BMW M3 CS G80

BMW has released a new high-performance version of its M3 sedan, the M3 CS, with a price tag of £159,900 or approximately $219,000 in US dollars. This makes it over $33,000 more expensive than the regular M3 xDrive Competition. Despite the high price, BMW is expected to sell the limited number of units it plans to produce. While the exact number of units has not been disclosed, the previous M4 CSL was limited to just 1,000 units.

The M3 CS boasts an impressive power output of 542 horsepower, which is a substantial increase over the stock figure of 503 horsepower for the twin-turbocharged straight-six engine. The power boost is achieved through engine management adjustments and an increase in turbo boost pressure. The CS also comes with BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system, making it much faster off the line than its coupe cousin, the CSL, with a 0-62 mph time of 3.4 seconds.

In addition to the powertrain upgrades, the M3 CS has undergone significant suspension upgrades, including new spring rates, additional cast-aluminum chassis bracing, recalibrated adaptive dampers, a tweaked anti-roll bar, and a retuned electronic stability control system. The car also has a significant amount of carbon fiber components, including a roof, bonnet, front splitter, front air intakes, mirror caps, rear diffuser, and rear spoiler, as well as carbon fiber used for the center console, shift paddles, and bucket seats. These modifications have resulted in a weight reduction of 20 kg, despite the car's standard weight of 1,855 kg.

The M3 CS's interior has also been updated with a new screen setup featuring a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch infotainment display running BMW’s iDrive 8 operating system, along with CS badges. On the outside, the car features a staggered wheel arrangement with 20-inch rims at the rear and 19-inch items at the front, shod with a bespoke, more track-biased version of the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tire. There are also special light clusters at the front that illuminate yellow in a nod to BMW’s GT racing cars. The M3 CS comes in Signal Green paintwork, but Frozen Solid White (a CS-exclusive hue), Brooklyn Grey, and Sapphire Black are also available.
