Volume 6 Afterword

First off, with this volume complete, I'm going to take a short break.
For $5 tier members, Chapter 420 will drop Monday, October 20th.
I hope you have enjoyed our first foray into the Central Continent. I know that I lot of people had problems with Jon early on, but I hope that, now that everything's said and done, you can at least understand why I chose him as our antagonist for this volume.
I do apologize for the abnormal schedule we've had during this volume. I've tried several times to get it under control, but there were so many new things to introduce on this continent, and each time something came up, I ended up spending an inordinate amount of time trying to make it right.
That said, with the rest of this week, I plan to get everything squared away for Volume 7 and build a small backlog. So, hopefully, it won't happen any more. Also, if things align properly, I am planning to return to the 5-a-week schedule starting next month. I won't make any promises, but the start of new books always seem easier to write, and I'll now be working in an established world, so I think things should work out.

2025-09-23 13:02:33 +0000 UTCHaving Jon as a character in a book makes sense and he is a good character to have, but since we can only read a chapter and then have to wait for the next chapter, the immature and annoying Jon stays in our head. If we had instead had the whole book, we would have read it in a short amount of time and the immature version of Jon would not have had enough time to ingrain itself in our minds. Instead, he would have been replaced by the matured Jon that is tired of his situation.

I just did a reread of book 1 current and the early edits help a lot with stuff like mei so well done there. Jon is mostly fine on a full bring read. Personally I wish he didn't show up quite as quick. His antics get in the way of learning about the world, but I also get it's a method to learn about the world. Very quintessential show versus tell. My 2c would be to shift the first jon chapter to after the library learning chapter but I think he's fine as is honestly.
