Sorry I was afk, I was *checks hand* ...writing a book?

It's been longer than usual since my last post. Sorry about that, I accidentally went into hyperfocus on the book I've been secretly working on. If you've been here for a long time, you might remember I wrote a tutorial called Commissions 101, where I shared my knowledge on how to paint for others in exchange for money. It received some stellar reviews such as “changed my life”, “the best tutorial ever made” and “not too bad I guess”. Well, here I am, 6 years later, and that tutorial built the foundation for the Ultimate Artist Guide.

I love being an artist, but there's a huge lack of useful information on how to actually do it. Most books are all “Nurture your creativity!” and “Learn how to compartmentalize!” with an explanation of commercial licensing mysteriously absent. The few books that do dip their toes in the business side of artistry tend to be from 2003 where they also recommend you fax your agent.

I'm not pretending to be the wisest or even the most knowledgeable on the subject. But I know a fair bit, and I can't sit around and see so many artists get burnt out without at least trying to share what I know.

My Ultimate Artist Guide includes absolutely everything I know about being an artist in the modern era of creativity. There's absolutely nothing in it that'll teach you how to draw, as that subject has been covered by more talented people than me throughout the ages. This book is about everything else. Clearing up common misconceptions about the art world, mental health, physical health, how to improve your skill, sell your art, hire out your skills, what to charge, how to do your finances, talk to clients, social media - it's a bonafide cookbook for a modern-day artist, with step by step instructions for everything.
