2022 was a great year artistically for me. And it all started with a book.
Last January I found myself sick of listening to Stephen Frys beautiful voice and went looking for a different audiobook. ACOTAR had sat in my wishlist forever and I decided on an unoptimistic whim to go for it. Like Ruhn I'm sensitive to sounds, and I don't get on well with most American accents nor feminine voices. But I gave it a shot. What's the worst that could happen?
Turns out, ACOTAR is more addictive than crack. I went on a month long book-reading bender is what happened. Looking back it's more like a fever dream where I inhaled the entire compendium of Sarah's work in a 3 week long trance and tattooed it's essence on my organs, disregarding anyone and anything that wasnt Fae related.
Then the hangover hit me. HARD. The cure? Art. It started with Lucien, of course. Then Az. Bryce and Hunt. And Cass. Nesta. And so on.
Through my art I reached a new corner of the Internet I didn't know existed - the book-folk. Ive made so many new friends, and it's been wonderful.
But the best part was regaining my passion and love for art - and not just painting, but *reading*. I had forgotten how much I love to read. ACOTAR reignited something inside me that I haven't felt in a very long time. Thank you, Sarah.
Now if only my wrist injury would heal, we could have a fantastic 2023 too!
