Dev Diary #26 - Progress for 0.2.3

Good morning Patrons,

I figured it's about time we discuss what I've been working on lately. First off, let's discuss polls.

Polls

I've decided that I won't be doing a content poll for this month. There just won't be enough time considering all the other scenes I want to work on. Even last month, I felt that Laureate's scene (which was a voted scene) was rushed, too short, and incomplete. I simply ran out of time. Scenes are just becoming so intricate and long that it's getting harder and harder to come up with enough content every month. Silvia's scene alone took me over a week to complete.

There have been a TON of you guys being very supportive and just telling me directly that if an update needs more than a month to complete, then I should just take my time to make sure the scene looks perfect. I do appreciate these kind words and I have a feeling this may happen in the future. But for now, I want to continue to be professional and release an update every month.

For the handful of you who have followed me since the beginning, do you recall how crazy I was for trying to have a quality update every 2 weeks? That's just impossible at this point in development unless you want literally one scene every two weeks. Even then, considering the number of times I go back and edit dialog, 2 weeks is just not enough time to work on SL.

On a minor note, the poll we had this month was related to ahegao. I'm surprised by how many people like it, I always thought that it was a niche type of deal (such as feet). As a small consolation, here's Viera getting off from just touching:

Scenes/Content

It appears that, on average, I can only do 3 quality scenes per update (month). The three scenes that I plan on completing for this update are...

These are the three scenes that I want to be finished for this update. Currently, I only have #1 completed. #2 is about 70% done and #3 hasn't been started yet. I still have to create assets for Ferry/Azula and code to put them into the game. There were also some minor/short story scenes that were added where you have to speak to Laureate/Makoto to progress through the story. These short story progression scenes are done.

I want to add some more "fun" things into the game in the future that requires a lot of backend coding. I'm worried that if I work on these though, I won't have enough time to make content for the actual game. Hopefully, I can finish up scenes #2 and #3 so I can have time to work on these "fun" things. I always expect an update to be ready by the first/second week of the month.

Final Notes

Like always, thank you all for your generosity. I know that I'll lose some of you for the month but I'm grateful for every contribution that the game gets. The Patreon has been stuck at about the same amount for the past 3-4 months. It's a bit discouraging considering I want to try and work on SL for a living, but I have a feeling that this is due to the reboot and numbers will rise once more content is added to the game. Regardless, I'll continue working on SL until the story is finished.
