Important Update: On Feedback & Future

So, we're back!

There's a lot to cover on this one.

On the Feedback Poll

Discussing on the results of the last feedback poll:

The Faustian Bargains will be postponed indefinitely.

No new stories will be added, and no old stories will be resumed until at least one of the current stories in the update cycle are complete.

The closest to completion currently being Desolation of the Caged Bird, which by my drafts, has about 80-90k words or so left. Looking back, 80k words would seem like a large mountain to climb, but as I've been writing around 75k words a month currently, that mountain has become the size of a molehill.

Rationale Behind The Change

Some of you may have noticed and pointed out that I have never truly finished a story I have written.

Confession: I have an aversion to endings.

If you asked, "Why, Luci?" I wouldn't be able to tell you exactly.

Some part of me suspects its the result of the thanatophobia I had as a teen, which evolved into a 'Don't think about the pink elephant in the room' attitude towards death as an adult.

My desire to either revisit old stories or start new ones feels like a means to avoid endings, as I associate endings with finality, and finality with death.

However, in the course of writing Desolation of the Caged Bird, I'm starting to grasp finality doesn't always mean death.

Which is why, I'm really really going to try to change this by finishing at least one story. Starting there and moving forward.

It becomes just a little harder to do that, however, if I continue to expand the cycle of stories I'm updating simultaneously.

Thus, for now, Desolation of the Caged Bird, Is It Wrong to Crave Love (In A Dungeon?), Heaven Has No Limit, Unsacred Responsibility, and A Precise Note will be the Focused Five.

Once one of these five end, then another will take its place, and the Pacts will resume once more.

Notice of One-Week Hiatus

A slight downer, the cold I had last week lasted longer than expected, and I found out it's a mild infection.

For most folks, pop some antibiotics and you're good to go. However, my health condition makes me immunocompromised, so any infection is a very very big deal.

I have been told to drink lots of water and get proper rest along with the meds I've been given.

Hence, there will be no updates next week as I will take time to recover.

Updates should resume on the 24th of November.

Once again, thank you all for your support, and your patronage. If you have any questions, thoughts, or things to share, be sure to send a message. I promise you I do read them all, even if I sometimes, my scatterbrained mind forgets to reply.

Yours, ever diabolically,

Lucifer.

Hope your doing a bit better now mate

Mystery

My bad for the initial comment I left, I sifted through some of the other posts and found an answer to my question. For anyone who’s curious as to what I inquired, suffice it to say that I would love to see Dungeons, Dragons, and Devilry resumed!

I think a way to help with the fear of finality would be to finish a story, but leave it open-ended enough that you have the option to take it up again from where it left off, but still could be considered finished even if you don't. For me, as a reader, even a poorly ended story, while frustrating, is infinitely less so than a story that just hangs forever unfinished. Will you catch heat if people find the ending not to their satisfaction? of course. But that's good imo, means they were invested. And invested readers come back for more.

first of all, hope you get well soon! 😆 and Thank you for the update and for a satisfactory decision.😃 I'm glad and mixed between being flattered, awkward, but also a sense of inclusion that you've read and addressed most of my (sometimes thoughtless and unflattering) opinions. ...is it because of my conspicuous bright red profile picture? 😂
