2025-04-20 12:08:38 +0000 UTCwhen my wife and i saw this movie in theaters we literally stood up and cheered at the end because it was the first sapphic movie we'd seen in theaters that ended happily and it was so funny because we were in this fancy ass theater with all these film snobs and we were just like YESSSS LESBIANS FINALLY WIN!!!!!!!!!!!

2025-04-19 12:39:21 +0000 UTCThe chemistry is also crazy and the sex scenes don't feel out of place bc it's about hideko reclaiming agency from her creepy uncle and not just being a glorified sex toy for these men. It's about like exploration too like in the pt2 when we see like the full scene she takes charge and reenacts things she would've clearly read about and the only story that causes her to blush while she's reading it out is about lesbian sex and then she gets to try it on her girlfriend at the end.

2025-04-19 01:03:08 +0000 UTCThis is one of my favourite movies for a reason!!!! The lesbians have a happy ending!!! Which like is not the same as the book it's an adaptation of. The way they live happily ever after and the creepy men die. The plot twist of her going to the asylum instead gagged me the first time I watched it. I love the way it's scored, it'll have that soaring music one moment and then the next it's silence and only the trees rustling. The movie is so dark but at the same time so hopeful with the ending and you truly feel satisfied when the men die at the end.
