Let's talk about Lupen

Hey all,
First of all, this is a spoiler for those of you who just joined and haven't read Chapter 31 yet.
In a few words, I'm considering changing Lupen. And I'm considering it for two main reasons.
The first is that the method through which he was introduced was bold on my part. I am well aware that identifying with the MC is a big part of the lure of progression fantasy, which is why mind control is a big no-no. However, I hoped that the way I framed it would ring a different bell, the one of "oh, this is interesting. When and how will Jack find out? And what will he do? What implications will it have for Lupen?" or something like that. Based on the comments I have received so far, this wasn't the case. People were from neutral to heavily negative over this mind-fuckery development.
The second reason is that, while I like Lupen and have big plans for him, I struggle to flesh him out as a character. I mean, it will happen, but maybe slower than I'd hope.
Given these, I am considering making some changes, and I want you guys' opinion as well.
The first option is to change nothing -- you've already read 15 chapters of Lupen, after all, so maybe you're attached.
The second is to remove the mind-fuckery and have Lupen appear by the System as a reward, without it being clear whether he was spawned or teleported from somewhere, and Jack just accepts him after some hesitation.
The third, and my favorite, is removing Lupen altogether and adding a child monkey in his place. The monkey can be Harambe's son, which will flesh out both the monkeys, Jack, and the little monkey itself. It will add more and deeper connections between characters, add emotional depth, be something special instead of generic, and be introduced very organically instead of the semi-forced way Lupen was. Plus, I have so many ideas about how to flesh out this monkey---he'll be aggressive and fearless, like Jack!
In my opinion, the third option seems like an overall improvement to the story, but...you know, maybe you don't like monkeys, or you think wolves are too cool. Maybe you disagree with the vocal minority and loved the current situation. In any case, I'm interested in knowing what you guys think. We're a community now, and I would love to let you play a part in shaping this story going forward. Your voice matters.
Comment any questions or, well, comments, and expect updates soon!
