The author Bram Stoker was clear in his diaries, letters, and writings that the book was heavily inspired by real life people. So who, then, was Count Dracula based on? Literary academics have debated this for years but one theory is especially relevant to This Paranormal Life. You see, not everyone knows that Bram Stoker is actually Irish. And in the province Ulster in Ireland there is a 5th century historical legend of a cruel and mysterious leader called Abhartach, who - I'll just come out and say it - sounds A LOT like Dracula. Fun Fact: Those of us with porphyria (what a lot of vampire myths are based on) can actually drink blood because we don't make our own red blood cells correctly. (It's easier and less gross to get transfusions.)
