Making Stuff "Cinematic" (shot design & grading)

I'm talking all over the place, so please use the chapter markers!

Just my own take on it: quickly touching on grading, film emulation, and how to make impactful compositions! Hopefully a useful thought or two!

Also thanks, Sai, for the question!

FUN FACT: Halation still exists on modern cameras today, but instead of being red, it's purple. The channels have switch from R to B (is my guess). Watch anything that's come out recently and you'll see that same halation but it's purple. So, if you're trying to emulate a more modern camera look, try using purple halation instead in the highlights.

Oh that's right! I keep putting it off because I keep thinking I can film better wake assets... I'll see what I can put together!

Hey Ian! Fantastic video, really got a lot outta it! I really do like these videos where you go more into the lil touch ups and small details you add that can really push the shot that extra mile. I was just rewatching your Modeling an Airport Waiting Room video and you briefly mentioned about 'Creating an environment for outside the windows' I would be really interested to see how you go about creating the background details and environments that are only really seen outside of windows etc, as these are the parts of shots that I really struggle with, and I'd love to see how you go about filling in the blanks! :)
