Asset: Cyber Guard (with mocap data)

Here's the Download Folder for both the soldiers and the mocap data (approx 30 seconds per motion)! I made them as a little mercenary force for Dynamo Dream.

Finally time to start uploading some of these assets! Let me know if you have problems with linking up the mocap to the models; I think it should just work right off the bat (I tested back to blender 3.4). And if it does all work, I can finally start releasing some of these others scans and things!

Also amped that the Rokoko mocap tools keep getting better! They've released a few updates so the data's a lot cleaner now- and obviously the hands are a huge bonus!

Also as always, huge thanks to Nathan Vegdahl for making so much of this process painless! My dream was always to be able to go from a raw photoscan to an animatable character as quickly as possible, and he's made it a reality :D

Hello. Does the GAYZ animation tools plugin still works with blender 4.4 ? Are there any new solution to this rest pose problem mentioned in the video ? Im really struggling to get a Mixamo animation to work with a photoscan I did that is not in T-pose.. thanks to all !!!

Nahuel

it's breaking because at 3.6 (I think), they changed the mix node. You probably did a jump from 3.4 to 4.1 on the project that the mix is broken

Ok I think i figured it out, for some reason, certain Mix Color nodes (formerly Mix RGB) come in as Undefined, so it defaults to white. Replacing them with Mix Color and mathcing the color seemed to work, for anyone having the same problem. I'm on 4.1 so I don't know why it's breaking but anywho.

oh, well, didn't really work when I tried to retarget the mocap! Then I tried with the mixamo addon but couldn't make it either somehow :o( maybe there is a tutorial around somewhere how to solve this properly?

Hello everybody, hello Ian!

Claudius

I'm very interested in that retargeting solution. I remember that in some earlier video you mentioned an addon to do that, but the process was quite annoying. I'd love to know if Nathan has figured out something better in the meanwhile!

These are sooooo cool. Thanks Ian - me and the kid are gonna have tons of fun building scenes with these guys :) Sidenote: my 9yr old was mildly interested in Blender (I use it a ton for visualisation stuff) but it always looked boring and abstract on my screen. Seeing you talking through putting together Hollywood-level visuals and then realising "... that's the same Blender as I've got on my liitle laptop!" ... well that's blown his mind. His imagination - and his sense that he could actually make really cool stuff - has gone into overdrive. Thanks dude :)
