Regarding the Times Square showcase: it wouldn't feel like a real concert without some tech glitches somewhere. I doubt they had a sound check, which explains the issues Dany was having with her pedal board. And the sound was more raw and unbalanced than in their usual shows. But for something put together at the last minute, it was fine.

Not one audience member left that Times Square show thinking, "nice girls, not ready." They are about to blow the lid off the VMAs because they are authentic triple-threat rockers (write, play, & sing) in addition to their "High School Musical" good looks.

Richard, they did know about it ahead of time. The band teased on Instagram a couple of times about a surprise in NYC. After the acoustic show in Jersey, Rudy told the crowd to come down to Times Square if they could the next day. The Warning mentioned it about 20 minutes before they played on Instagram that it was a pop up show. So the whole purpose was to just play and try to draw people in. I'm not sure why it was done like this but if they were allowed to say anything ahead of time I'm sure that they would have.

I think it's a miss. They played an outdoor event nearby in NJ yesterday. There's no way they didn't know they were playing this show yesterday and simply announcing they would be there isn't hard.

I doubt they had any real time for a sound check - maybe a line check and that was it. It didn't go as smoothly as their usual performances, but it is still representative of what they are as a live band.

I doubt they could have handled a lot of people there in the space they had allowed. But certainly, they had room for more than the couple of hundred who were there.

That's a fair point. But it's more about generating excitement around the event. It's not like anyone was going to travel to NYC just for the show (unless they were in the NYC area), but they could have told friends and family in the area. Hey, don't listen to me--I'm not a manager or promoter, just a guy that loves the band, wants more people to enjoy them, and wants DPA to succeed--however they define success.

I understand Adam's perspective. I think that it is a bit of a wasted opportunity to play a show in the middle of NYC and not have anyone there to see (other than a handful of folks that must have been clued in somehow). As far as Patrons getting a heads up on things like this--there may be contractual or logistical issues that prevent advance notice on certain events.

I responded to another comment this way: Looking at it from another perspective, you don't want the whole crowd to be The Warning fans. People who haven't heard of them aren't going to stop and when there's a large crowd because people like to see things. This was a perfect setting for people walking in the city to discover the band.

This was fun but disappointing. They're in NYC, playing Times Square, and no one knew with enough notice to go see them! There should have been a crowd of at least a few thousand people watching. I don't live there anymore, but I would have contacted friends and family to go.
