Despite how hilarious and silly it can be, the warmth and love it has in it definitely shines through. It also really makes you think about your life and how you choose to live it. There are a couple of songs and scenes that still live rent free in my head, so I think you'll enjoy the rest. If I remember correctly, it only gets better - they really kick it up a notch~

Also, Mortius being unable to pin down Taz and Up's dynamic is very funny to me as someone who read some honestly really well-written Tup fanfic back in the day lmao (any way you interpret their relationship, they would die for each other and I love that)

WAIT HE WAS ALSO SMELLY BALLS i forgot you’ve seen firebringer for a moment

Starkid's puppetry is always so good and it really shines in this musical. I think you will really love this once we get further into the story, there are so many precious characters and I love them so much.

2025-10-17 07:26:45 +0000 UTCYES im a rabid starship defender!! a lot of people describe this show as sci-fi little mermaid, which adds to its charm for me. i also see a lot of trans starkid fans love this one because bug's story is pretty easy to read through a trans lens ^^ one of my favorite quotes is from denise donavan (the actress playing february) who in a live show talked about how her mom calls it "a show only for dreamers" and i think thats honestly the perfect descriptor for it :)

He actually wrote all the music for this show while filming for Glee. This took up a lot of his time and he wasn't able to write as many songs as planned and didn't finish the ones he did write until pretty last minute.

Not as polished as the newer stuff, but it's so much fun I'm really glad you're doing this before Cinderella's Castle. The puppetry here is great, but Cinderella's Castle is so much better ~15 years later. I feel like it's be harder to appreciate the simplicity of them once seeing what they can do with a larger budget and some more experience

I love this musical a lot and I think it's my mom's favourite because Denise is her favourite Starkid. it was their first one they did out of their college theatre. Actually, Joey was still in college I believe at the time so he had to bus to the shows and rehearsals between classes. Denise (February) said in a concert a few years ago that her mom calls this a "show only for dreamers" and I love that so much. I really hope you enjoy this because it's just really fun and their first time really doing this on their own.
