Oh. my. god... the stage is a giant music box that spins them around like the ballerina.

2025-09-19 18:50:33 +0000 UTCYeah just echoing a lot of other commenters, ECT is not a therapy to be given or undertaken lightly, but it actually does have beneficial effects for a lot of people that undergo the modern iteration of it when their symptoms are that intense and other treatment isn't helping. (this was less shocking as a revelation when the show was still called "feeling electric" bc we all went "oh yeah, that makes sense with the title" XD)

2025-09-17 20:29:23 +0000 UTC"Without a little lift, the ballerina falls". Then the music box has a spinning ballerina. I'm ok, just gonna go cry about it for a while. Not to mention all the "Catch me I'm falling" lyrics. Such a good symbol of how these mental illnesses can feel. Like you need boosts from other people or things (pills, family, therapists, etc) to soar or rise like mountains. But it's only ever a little lift. I'd love to hear what other people also think of the ballerina symbol. Also the fact that Henry wears her scrunchie on his wrist, sweet precious boy.

2025-09-17 11:57:24 +0000 UTCJust in case someone hasnt already commented this I want to caution that ECT (electro compulsive therapy) to my knowledge is nothing like it's stereotype and that stereotype can be incredibly harmful if perpetuated because it may stop people from consenting to life saving treatment. I by no means blame anyone for reacting with shock or fear or anger even when hearing it as an option but as far as I know it is not as 'barbaric' for lack of a better term as popular media depicts it to be.

2025-08-12 19:53:33 +0000 UTCMortius (and Patrons) - let me highly recommend Jacob Penrod's reaction to this musical. He actually has bipolar disorder (and borderline on top of it if I remember correctly) and he has some insights that only someone who has actually gone through a lot of what Diana has gone through can offer. He also married young before he got his diagnosis, he is a parent, has experience with many of the medications mentioned, and is actively considering getting ECT in the future. He is uploading the videos to Youtube, but you can watch his full reaction on his Patreon for free - he doesn't charge for that musical because he wants to get the word and awareness out there.

2025-08-02 14:45:46 +0000 UTCReally enjoying your reaction to this series. Everyone comes to the show with different backgrounds and I think that really informs how they react to material like this. I’ve seen many people react quite negatively to Dan and Natalie so I found the level of empathy you have for the characters quite refreshing. The characters aren’t perfect people, but that’s what makes them so compelling and true to life! Can’t wait for the next part!

2025-07-31 00:17:52 +0000 UTCThis!! I've heard basically the same things about (modern) ECT from someone who actually works in the field and prescribes medication/other forms of treatment as the doctor in the show said, they also talked about how/why it works and possible side effects (which I'm not gonna elaborate further because of spoilers) but the TL;DR is that the information the doctor gives about (modern) ECT seems to be medically accurate while the opinions the other characters have about it are informed by public misconceptions

2025-07-30 12:20:43 +0000 UTCi’ve seen this in a few different reactions now so i do need it to be known that modern ECT is not at all like what you’ve seen in most movies/shows, it genuinely can be (positively) life changing for people. i get having that knee-jerk reaction, but just wanted to mention it especially since you stressed not wanting to make comments on mental health stuff that you may be uninformed on

2025-07-30 11:40:59 +0000 UTCwhy on earth did I watch this during my lunch break, now I have to get back to work with tears in my eyes. Thank you for the message at the end.

2025-07-30 10:26:27 +0000 UTC(not so) fun fact: the actress of Diana brought in her own sons baby clothes for that scene 😭

2025-07-30 08:29:57 +0000 UTC26:12 I saw it too Mortius... Genuinely a shocking reveal, this whole musical has made me feel broken. To everyone out there know you aren't alone ❤️

2025-07-30 08:18:51 +0000 UTCThank you for your message at the end, it was well-said and very much appreciated. I think your dogs could feel the tension there and wanted to help break it up a bit 😅 Is one of them a hound? That bay sounded just like my first dog, a beagle. I miss her and her sound-barrier-breaking howls and her unbelievably soft ears so much. God damnit I’m crying over another thing now. I commented on your last upload that I was looking forward to You Don’t Know through Make Up Your Mind (in emojis, of course). That is my favorite sequence of songs in all of musical theatre, it captures the highs and lows of bipolar so accurately through sound alone (in my experience, at least), and the lyrics and characterization make it all the more powerful. You’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, this show is amazingly human. That being said, they really are the preface to what is (arguably) the heaviest part of the show. I saw the length of this video and understood immediately why it was shorter than the others. Although it is so powerful and well-executed, it can be truly heart-wrenching to experience, especially for the first time. I’m sure you are already on it, but take care of yourself 💕 Have some tea and give your dogs some forehead kisses for me.

2025-07-30 07:42:55 +0000 UTCHonestly I think we needed that interruption at the end. Not the best for filming but it lightened things a little after the heaviness of this episode.

2025-07-30 03:15:38 +0000 UTCIf you watch Catch me I'm falling again, you can also see The Son laughing and scoffing along with Diana until the hypnosis "works" then he changes from the kinda cocky "I'm Alive, you can't get rid of me" to the child she lost; shrinking himself, shoulders hunched, body language more fearful, curling up at her feet and holding on bc ultimately he's a child who wants his mother.

2025-07-30 03:02:58 +0000 UTCMortius: Oh, good it's just a music box... Also Mortius: Oh God no, it's a music box!
